John       Chp. 3      Vs.18-21

Vs. 18 Whoever believes on Him (Jesus–the Son)—is not condemned (blamed to punishment) —
but he that believes not—is condemned already—-
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

(Does this let someone believe in another “god” and still go to heaven?
Does this let someone believe in anything they want and still go to heaven?
Does this let someone not believe in any “god” or anything—and still go to heaven?)

This brings up the question—what happens to all those people who have never heard of Jesus or the God in heaven?

Paul, a preacher to the non-Jewish people—-talks about this in the book of Romans in Chp.1:18-32.

Paul explains that in every person is a “knowing” that certain things are wrong.

They also see the things in nature, in the heavens, in how the body is made so wonderfully—such as it can heal itself, how so many tiny parts work together—etc. —

all these things show that there must be “someone” who made these things—they did not just happen by themselves.

They have a “knowing” inside of them—that there is a “god” out there somewhere.

Many of these people have made idols to worship—for a “god”.
They “know” there must be a “god”.

In their minds—they could pray that God would show them the true God.

Bible teachers also think that punishment in hell will not be the same for everyone.

Punishment for those who never heard of Jesus—will not be the same as ——-for someone who has known what the Bible says and knows all about Jesus—but refused to believe. That person’s punishment will be much worse.

In Genesis 18:25 Abraham said: “Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?“

Some questions we have—-we will never know the answer to—–but this verse in Genesis lets us know—-that God will do what is right.

He created everything. He has the right and power to make the “rules”. His nature and who He is —-is fair and just.
He will do what is right.
———————————–

There are many in science today—who do not believe in God—and try to tell everyone that all this did just “happen”. That things grew from some tiny simple thing into something — wonderfully made and complex— with many parts that work together.

They do not believe that God created man—as a whole man.
They say that there was this tiny simple thing—that kept changing and growing until it became a living thing—and kept changing until it was a simple animal—and kept changing until it was “monkey like” and kept changing until it was human.

Wow! That sounds a lot harder to believe than—God made man.
But that is what is written in most of the science books written for school children to learn.

Vs. 19 And this is the condemnation (blamed to punishment)—- that light (the truth about Jesus) has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds (things they did) were evil.

(This is the main reason that people do not want to follow Jesus’ teachings. They would have to give up their sins.

There are many sins that can bring pleasure and good feelings and fun to people. But God says —if they do certain things—it is wrong and sin.

God is not trying take away our pleasure or fun—but He knows that if we do these things—it will make problems and trouble for us in the future.

People do not see the trouble their sin will make for them.
When they are tempted to sin—all they see is the pleasure it will bring.

Not until after they do the sin—do they see the trouble it made for them.)

Vs. 20 Every person that “hates the light”—-(hates or ignores the truth about Jesus)—or does not come to the “light”
—so that his deeds (things they do) can be reproved (can be shown to be wrong, or evil).

(People do not want to hear or be shown that what they are doing is a sin and wrong.)

Vs. 21 But the person who does right—will come to the “light”—so that his deeds—what he does— can be shown to be right.
