I Corinthians      Chp 8 Vs 1-13

5259. Paul is talking about food offered to idols. He starts by saying—K______________________ puffs up (makes a person proud). C____________________ (love) edifies (builds up, encourages).

5260. Vs. 2 Paul says: If any man thinks he knows anything —-

5262. Vs. 4 About things offered to idols—–we know that idols

5263. Vs. 5,6 There are many gods, but there is one ___________

Some people have in their minds (conscience) that this food belongs to the idol, and it bothers them.

5265. Eating m________________ does not make us any better as far as God thinks.

If we eat meat, or do not eat meat, it does not make us better or worse.

5266. Vs. 9 But be careful that this l__________________
(freedom you feel about eating such meat) bothers another Christian. It becomes a s_____________________________ (something that stands in the way) for that person.

(If it bothers them—as a Christian—to eat food offered to idols—-and they see you eating it—it will upset them and they will wonder about your faith and being a Christian. If they think it is a sin and they see you doing it—-it will bother them.)

(So, even though you may feel free to eat it, don’t do it for their sake.)

Vs. 10, 11 If a man sees you eat meat offered to an idol, he may eat it also, even though he thinks it is a sin. Your eating the meat will cause him to sin.

Your “knowledge” and “freedom”—-will make a weaker Christian brother to sin.

Vs. 12 You will sin against your brother. You will wound or hurt their weak conscience. You will sin against Christ.

5267. Vs. 13 If eating such meat offends my brother, then
