______________________________________________

Paul is writing this book to the Jews in Rome.

The Jews are proud that they know the God of heaven and do not worship idols.

They are proud that they are a “holy” people.

They find fault and criticized the Gentiles for the things they did.

The Jews felt that they were more “holy” and had the right to criticize the Gentiles.

Paul tells them that they are doing the same sins that they criticize the Gentiles for doing.
How can they be more “holy” than the Gentiles, if they are doing the same sins?

Being Jews does not make them more “holy”. Doing what God’s word says—obeying God is what makes you “holy”.

Sin begins in a person’s heart and mind. Then it becomes something you do —an action.

Just because you are a “Jew” —does not make you better or more “holy”.

What you think in your heart and mind, and what you do—shows if you obey God or not. God will judge your heat—as well as what you do.

In verses 11-12— God will judge all people some day. Those people who have never heard of God in heaven or his laws—will be judged. God knows that they have never heard of Him. He will judge them fairly.

Those who have known about the God in heaven and have known his Word in the scriptures—will be judged by that knowledge. They will have no excuse.

They knew the truth, but did not do it or believe it.

They will be judged differently and harder than those who did not know.

God will be fair. Abraham said, “Shall not the judge of all the earth do right? “ Genesis 18:25 Yes, He will.
