Chapter 5 Verses 21-34
Verse 21 Jesus went over the sea (lake) of Galilee and came to the other side.
Many people had gathered there to see him.
Verse 22 A man who was a ruler of a Jewish synagogue (church)
came to Jesus and knelt at his feet. The man’s name was Jairus.
(This was a little unusual. So many of the Jewish leaders did not believe in Jesus. But this man—a leader in the church—needing help for his daughter—comes to Jesus in front of the crowd—-and asks for help. He believes that Jesus will heal his daughter.)
Verse 23 He said to Jesus. “My daughter is sick and is near death.
Please come and put your hands on her and heal her—and she will live.
Verse 24. Jesus went with the man. There were many people who followed along. They all crowded around Jesus.
Verse 25 There was a woman in the crowd who had a health problem for many years. She was bleeding (probably from her female parts). This had been going on for 12 years.
Verse 26 She had gone to many doctors for help. She suffered from some of the things they told her to do. Nothing helped.
She had spent all of her money, but she still had the problem.
Verse 27 When she heard of Jesus, she came into the crowd and pushed her way close to Jesus. She reached out and touched his robe.
Verse 28 She said to herself—If I can just touch his clothes, I shall be healed.
Verse 29 As soon as she touched Jesus’ clothes, the bleeding stopped.
The felt it. She knew that she had been healed.
Verse 30 When the woman touched Jesus, he felt power go out of him. He turned around and asked: Who touched my clothes?
Verse 31 The disciples said to Jesus–Why would you asked who touched you? The people are all around you, bumping into each other and you.
Verse 32 Jesus looked around, then he saw the woman.
Verse 33 The woman was afraid. She came a knelt down before him. She told him about her problem and how she touched him, and how she felt she was healed.
Verse 34 Jesus said to her “ Daughter, thy faith has made you whole. Go in peace. Be healed.”
