St. John 15 Vs. 1-12

3868. Vs. 1 Jesus says: I am the ______________ ___________________. My father is the _________________________ (The one who takes care of the vines.)

3869. Vs. 2 Every branch in me—that does not bear (grow)
______________________—–will be _______________ ________________________.

Every branch that does bear (grow) fruit— he will _________________________ (pruned, cut back) so that it will do what? ________________________________________________

3870. Vs. 3 You are clean through the ________________ that I have spoken to you.

(Hearing God’s word and obeying it makes us clean in our spirits.)

3871. Vs. 4 Jesus said, _______________ in me.—-meaning—-live in me.

I will live in you.

The branch can not grow fruit by itself, it has to stay connected to the vine. So you can not grow spiritually, unless you stay connected to Jesus.

3872. Vs. 5 Jesus said, I am the ______________. You are the _______________________. If he abides (lives) in me, and I live in him, then he will grow much fruit.

Fruit means to grow spiritually in understanding things of the Spirit. It means that your behavior and attitudes and thinking become more like the way God thinks.

Jesus said: Without me you can do ____________________.

3873. Vs. 6 Jesus said, If a man does not abide—stay in me—he will be cast (thrown) out. His branch will be cut off.

What happens to the branches that are cut off? ________________

3874. Vs. 7 Jesus said, If you abide (stay in me) you can do what? ____________________________________________

3875. Vs. 8 God the Father is glorified when we do what?

3876. Vs. 9 As the Father has loved ___________ (Jesus) so have I (Jesus) loved you.

Continue in my love.

(This means to stay with Jesus in faith. It means to always believe you have Jesus’ love.

Satan would try to get you to doubt Jesus’ love for you, but continue to believe that Jesus’ love continues toward you.)

3877. Vs.10 How do we keep ourselves in God’s love? By doing what? _______________________________________________

(This does not mean that God does not love all people. He does love all people—even the ones who do not worship him.

But there is a greater love, a special love for those who obey God.
They have chosen to be in the “family” of God. They have chosen to be God’s “child”. God has become their Father. These people —God has a special love for.)

Jesus tells the disciples—-just as I (Jesus) have obeyed the Father and I abide in the Father’s love.

3878. Vs. 11 Jesus said, I have told you these things so that
my ______________ will be in you, and that you joy will be
_____________________.

3879. Vs. 12 Jesus said, This I command you— _______________ one another as I have _______________ you.
