St. John 10 Vs. 17-42
3750. Vs. 17, 18 In these verses—Jesus said a very important thing. He said something that proved he was God.
He said–I ___________ _______________ my life, that I might (may) ____________________ it ____________ again.
No man ___________________ it from me. But I __________
It ______________ of myself.
I have the ____________________ to lay it down, and I have the
______________________ to take it up again.
(No one was going to be able to kill Jesus unless he allowed them to do it. Jesus had the power to keep them from killing him.
Here is the thing that proved he was God.
He had the power to make his body come alive again. Only God can bring life into a body.)
3751. Vs. 19-21 Some of the Jews said that Jesus was a _________________. But others said, How can he open the eyes of the ______________________ if he is a _______________?
3752. Vs. 22 Jesus was in Jerusalem. It was winter. It was the feast of _____________________________ . (This is Hanukah.
A feast near our Christmas time.)
3753. Vs. 23-25 The Jews said, If you are the _____________ then tell us plainly (clearly).
Jesus told them—I have told you who I am but you will not
________________________.
When you see the ________________ (miracles) that I do in the Father’s name, you will not believe.
3754. Vs. 26,27 The reason they did not believe—–they were not God’s ___________________. If they had been God’s sheep, they would have understood who he was and believed him.
3755. Vs. 28 Jesus said, he gives to his sheep _______________
____________ and they will never perish—which means they will never ______________. (This does not mean their physical body, this means their eternal spirit will live forever in a new body.)
And no man shall be able to pluck (pull, take) them out of my hand.
(No one is able to pull us away from eternal life and loving God—if we want God and choose to stay with God. It is our will that we choose God. Man —-no matter what he does to us—-can force us to change our will —-if we decide we are going to stay with God.
But—–if we choose to walk away from God—-we choose not to obey and live right before God—-if we choose to live in sin and ignore God—-we break that relationship—-and we are on our own.
God does not force us to stay with him.)
3756. Vs. 30 Jesus said—I and my Father are _____________.
3757. Vs. 31 Then the Jews took up _______________ to throw at him.
(Jesus was telling them—-that he was of the same spirit, substance, make-up as God the Father.
This made the Jews angry because they thought of Jesus as just being a man—but he was making himself equal with God.)
3758. Vs. 32, 33 Jesus said, I have done many good works or miracles — for which miracle are you throwing stones at me”
The Jews answered—We are not throwing stones because of the miracles you did—–we are throwing stones because you —–being a man—-said that you were ______________.
3759. Vs. 34-38 Jesus quoted a verse from the Old Testament talking about men who were appointed judges as being called “gods” because of their authority.
Then Jesus said—you say I am blaspheming because I say I am the Son of God.
If you do not believe me—-then believe the ________________ or miracles that I do. (Jesus raised people from the dead. Only God can give life.)
3760. Vs. 39-42 The Jews tried to catch Jesus and take him away, Did they catch him? _____________
