Chapter 6 Vs. 13- 26
Vs. 13 Jesus called together the men that he had called to follow him.
In those days, a leader or teacher would try to find men who would give time to study with him, or to listen to his ideas about how the government should be run, —or some other ideas of religion or such.
Jesus called these men, to come a stay with him and learn what he was teaching.
They had to give a lot of time with Jesus. They traveled with him to many towns.
Most of these men had families. We wonder how they took care of their families—– and followed Jesus.
Jesus was given offerings of money by people—we know that because the Bible tells about a couple of women who gave money to Jesus.
So, I am guessing—that these offerings were shared among the men. I really do not know how all these men and families had what they needed to live.
One time, Peter did not have money to pay the tax he owed. So Jesus told him to go fishing, and the fish he pulled up had a coin in its mouth. The coin was enough to pay the tax.

Most likely, as they traveled, people invited them to meals—so they had food that way.

Vs. 17, 18 Jesus and the men are together. Jesus is teaching. Many people have come to listen. Jesus heals them of sicknesses.
And he also heals them, or casts out ___________________
__________________________.
Why were there so many people with demons controlling them?
In lands, nations, countries, where people worship idols—or worship “spirits”—it gives “open door” for demons to come into people and control them.
The Jewish people worshipped God in heaven, but all around them, were people who worshipped idols.
Vs. 19 The people tried to _____________ Jesus. They saw that if they could touch him—-having faith, expecting to be healed—-that “virtue” or strength went out of Jesus into them, and they were healed.
Vs. 20 Jesus said, Blessed are the __________________ for you will have the kingdom of _______________.
(The poor people were quicker to listen and believe Jesus. The rich —-either were not interested or did not think they needed Jesus.
Vs. 21 Blessed are you who ________________now, for you will be __________________________.
Blessed are you who _________________ now for you will _____________________.
Vs. 22 Blessed are you when men ________________ you, who will not let you be with them in their group, who say bad things about you, —–because you are a believer and follower of Jesus.
Vs. 23 _________________ in that day, and leap for _______________. You will get your reward in ______________.
The Old Testament fathers and prophets had the same thing happen to them.
Vs. 24 Woe—or bad things to you—-who are _______________, because you already have all you want.
Vs.25 Woe to you who are _____________________—-because in the future —–you will be hungry.
Woe to you who _______________now—-for you who
________________________(are sorrowful) and _________________.
(Jesus is telling them that those who think they have all they need and are not interested in Jesus or what he says——will some day be sorry.
They will find out that their riches on earth did not prepare them to have life in heaven.
Eternal life in heaven will be given to those who see their need of Jesus and believe in him.
Vs. 26 Woe unto you—-when men speak well of you.
In the Old Testament, the people liked the leaders and prophets who told them the things they wanted to hear.
( Jesus knows that many of the things he teaches and says—-the people do not believe him,—- or they do not want to hear that they are sinners, —– or they do not believe that Jesus is God’s Son.)
(Jesus was not accepted by most of the people. The Jewish leaders hated him.
Jesus knew that if people are true believers—-and live a true Christian life—there will be people who will not like them.
In some countries today, Christians are killed, and hurt.
The government does not like them, and the people are taught to hate them.
Jesus is warning them that if they are a believer in Jesus—-they will not be popular and well liked by most of the people.
In some countries,—- If you are popular and well liked—-one would wonder if you are living as a true Christian should.
So far, in our country, we have not had much trouble against Christians. But some of the things we are hearing on the news —–we can see how there are more and more people who do not like true Christians.
They say things about them that are mocking and making fun, or show they do not like our beliefs. )
