(From Old Testament times—God told the Jews to go to Jerusalem to the temple to make their sacrifices and worship him there. They were not to make their sacrifices in other places.

Now, Jesus is telling this woman that the time is coming, when people will not have to be worshipping in Jerusalem or other places.

They will worship the Father where they are—-in any place—-because they will worship—-not with animal sacrifices—but they will worship in their spirit to God.

Jesus knew that after he died on the cross and rose from the dead—it would change the way people worshipped God.)
