Romans
Chapter 5 Verse 1-6
When we are justified (made right with God)—we have peace with God—through Jesus.
Through Jesus we come by faith to receive His grace—we are happy and we have hope to see God’s glory.
When trouble and problems come—-we can accept them without losing faith. We know that trouble and problems can make us more patient with other people. Patience gives us experience. We have sympathy for others because we understand about pain, sorrow, and trouble.
Experience gives us hope. We learn by experience that God is with us through all our problems. That give us hope for the future. We know that God can be trusted. We are not ashamed We can hold up our heads knowing that God’s love is given to us by the Holy Spirit.
When we were weak and did not have strength—-God did His work for us. Jesus died for sinners. God did it when He thought it was the right time.
The King James version of the Bible says “in due time” Christ died.
God knew the exact time that Jesus should be born and the die for men.
Jesus came to be born when the Jewish people were under the rule of the Roman government. The Romans ruled many countries.
They made roads for hundreds of miles in these countries. The roads were for the Roman soldiers to use as they went from place to place to fight battles and keep the peace.
The soldiers were not the only ones to use the roads —everyone used the roads. It made travel to far places easy.
The Greek people had great influence over the countries and had ruled many countries. Many people could speak the Greek language. Many people could speak the Roman language of Latin.
After Jesus raised up from the dead and went back to heaven, the disciples went all around to many countries telling them about Jesus. The Roman roads made it easy to travel. If Jesus had come before —-those roads would not have been there.
Because so many people could speak Greek or Latin, it was easy to travel and speak to people. If Jesus had come many years before. All those countries would have their own languages—there would have been many different languages—it would have been much harder to travel and speak to many people. But now they had one or two languages that most people could understand.
Because Roman ruled so many places, a person who was a citizen of Rome could travel freely. He could go places that before he would not have been allowed to go.
God knew just when it would be the best time to have Jesus come to earth so people could hear about it and believe.
God know the right time to do things in our life. God sees the whole picture. He knows exactly the right minute to send the answer to our prayer or meet our need.
We would like to argue with God or try to tell Him to answer right now. As we go along in life, walking with God, we learn that He knows best. We see He is wise. We learn to wait for Him to do things in His time.
Romans Chapter 5 Verse 7-11
Sometimes people on earth are willing to die for another person.
A parent would die to save a child. A friend may give his life to save another person.
We may be willing to give up our life for another if we thought that person was worth it.
But God loved us while we were still sinners. Jesus was willing to die for us when we were sinners.
Jesus was willing to give up his life for a murderer. Jesus gave up his life for a thief , a liar, a person who did all kinds of mean terrible things. Jesus gave up his life for people who did terrible things like Hitler.
We are justified (made right) by his blood, and we will be saved from God’s anger (wrath) in the future.
If God was willing to save us when we were terrible sinners—when we were against Him like an enemy—-now that we are His friends because we have accepted His death for us—how much more will He show us His love.
We have joy because He has made us right with God.
Romans Chapter 5 Verse 12 -21
Sin came into the world by one man–Adam. Death came into the world by one man—Adam. Sin has passed down man to man. Death has passed down man to man. All have sinned. All will die in body and all must pay the death punishment their sin forever.
People sinned, doing things that were bad, hateful , mean things even before God gave the law and 10 Commandments.
These people did not break God’s spoken/written laws because these laws were not given yet.
But the people still died because death was in the world because of Adam’s sin.
Because of the influence of sin in the world—people sinned. No one was able to not sin.
Sin and death came into the world because on one’s man sin—-and one man, Jesus Christ, brought life and grace. It is a free gift.
Because of one man’s (Adam) sin death has ruled over all. One man (Christ) brought the gift of life.
Because one man disobeyed, many were made sinners. Because one man obeyed, many have been made right with God.
God gave the law and 10 Commandments so all men could see how sinful they were. As people sinned more and more, God’s kindness was shown more and more. God great kindness was shown by sending Jesus to die in our place—letting us have life instead of death.
