Chapter 22
Verses 1-4 Read the Bible verses.
There is a river of the water of life. It is clear as crystal. It comes from the throne of God and of the Lamb which is in the middle of the street.
On each side of the river was a tree of life. It had 12 kinds of fruit. A different kind of fruit each month. Its leaves were used for the healing of the nations.
It is not clear what the “healing of the nations” is. Believers will have a new body that will not die or get sick. It is “incorruptible” I Corinthians 15:52–meaning it can not decay.
There shall no longer be a curse. When Adam sinned, God put a curse on the earth. Weeds, thorns grew—things in creation began to decay.
The throne of God and the Lamb shall be in it, and His bond servants shall serve Him.
They shall see his face. His name shall be in their foreheads.
Verses 5-21 Read the Bible verses.
Again there shall be no night.
The angel said that all these things that John heard and saw are true.
“Behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he who pays attention to these words.”
John fell down at the angel’s feet and started to worship. Again the angel stopped him and said that only God is to be worshipped.
The angel told John, “Don’t close up the words you have written because the time is near.”
Verse 11 says that when Christ comes, there will not be time to change. Whatever a person is at the time of Jesus’ coming—that’s the way he will remain.
Be ready before he comes. Have your sins forgiven before he comes.
Verses 12 “Behold I come quickly. My reward (payment for works of righteousness) is with me. I will give to every man as to his works. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”
There are two choices:
Choice #1 -“Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter into the gates of the city.”
Choice #2-Warning: Outside of this city are the “dogs”, the people who are wicked–people who have done all kinds of sins.”
“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you. I am the root of David and his offspring.”
God promised David that his sons on down forever—would be kings and have a kingdom. David’s kingdom would be forever.
David’s kingdom on this earth ended long ago, but Jesus came to be born as a baby. He came to a woman who was part of David’s tribe (family line). Jesus went back up into heaven. Jesus is still alive. Jesus will be king on earth someday. And David’s family line, will have a kingdom with Jesus as king—and this kingdom will be forever.
The Spirit and the bride say come. Let everyone who hears-come.
If anyone adds words to this prophecy –terrible things will happen to him. If anyone takes away words of this prophecy–he will have no part of the tree of life or the holy city. This means an attempt to try to change the prophecy or make it as nothing important. Or to attempt to change its meaning so that it does not match the truth.
“Yes, I am coming quickly.”
