Chapter 21
Verses 1-8 Read the Bible verses.
John then saw a new heaven and a new earth. The old heaven and earth passed away. There is no longer any sea (ocean).
Then John saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
It was like a “bride” ready for her husband.
A loud voice said, “Look–the tabernacle of God is among men. And he shall live among men. They shall be his people and he will be among them.” No longer will believers be on earth and God in heaven, but he will be with his people.
He shall wipe away all tears. There shall be no more death, crying or pain. He who sits on the throne said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, I am making everything new.”
Again is the warning for John to write—those who believe in Christ and follow him will share in this new heaven and earth. Those who refuse will go to the Lake of Fire.
Verses 9- 27 Read the Bible verses.
One of the seven angels who had one of the seven bowls said to John, “Come and I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
The angel carried John to see the new Jerusalem. It was bright and shining. It had a wall, and 12 gates. At each gate was an angel. On each gate was written a tribe of Israel.
There were 3 gates on each of the 4 sides. The wall of the city had 12 foundation stones and on them were written the names of the 12 apostles.
The city is square. All the sides are equal. Its height is the same as its width.
The city was gold like clear glass. The foundation stones had many kinds of gem stones. The 12 gates were 12 pearls. Each gate was one large pearl. The streets were gold like clear glass.
There was no temple, because God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city has no need of the sun or moon, because the glory of God is so bright and it makes the light.
There is no night there. The gates are never closed.
There is nothing unclean there. Living there are only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
There is a river of the water of life. It is clear as crystal. It comes from the throne of God and of the Lamb which is in the middle of the street.
On each side of the river was a tree of life. It had 12 kinds of fruit. A different kind of fruit each month. Its leaves were used for the healing of the nations.
