This parable is a story with a heavenly meaning. Jesus is the nobleman. He goes far away (back to heaven). He tells the disciples and followers to stay busy preaching and bringing others to believe in Jesus.

Jesus goes to the Father in heaven and God the Father gives Jesus the authority to rule as King of all Kings.

When Jesus comes back to earth again, he will judge his disciples and followers and ask what they did while he was gone.

To those who were faithful and brought others to Christ to believe or gave words to help others learn of Christ, or did works of kindness in the name of Christ——they will be rewarded.

The people who would not bow to Christ ruling over them would be punished

with eternal death.
