Vs.35 Jesus was not denying his family (saying they were not his family)
but He was putting some distance between himself and them—–to show that He was not just an earthly man—-but He was separate from them in that He was God’s Son.
This was the reason He came to earth as a baby. The people who believe in Him and trust Him for salvation are really those who are His family.
For a time, Jesus’ earthly brothers did not believe that He was the Son of God. Yet they must have heard how he was born. Mary must have told them how the angel came to her and told her she would have a baby—and she had not had sex with a man.
Later, after Jesus’ death and resurrection Jesus’ early brothers did believe He was God’s Son. Jesus’ brother James became one of the main leaders in the Christian church.

The seeds lay on top of the ground.
