I Thessalonians Chp. 2 Vs. 1-20
5877. Vs. 1,2 Paul said, Our coming to you was not in v__________.(Meaning: empty, no success)
5878. Paul had been at what city before he came to them? ________________ How had they been treated at that city? _______________________________________
5879. Vs. 3-4 Paul said –We did not preach to you with deceit, or uncleanness.
God trusted us with the gospel to teach it. We did this —not trying to please ________,
but to please God.
5880. Vs. 5 We did not use f____________________ words (words that were not sincere— just to make you feel good).
Nor did we covet (desire, be jealous. or want your things or money). We were sincere.
God is our w___________________.
5881. Vs.6 We did not seek (look for) g_____________ (praise) from you or others.
We might have been a burden to you, as ministers of the gospel, but we were not.
(Paul is speaking of when ministers came to speak—they expected the people of the church to feed them, give them a place to stay, etc. But Paul did not do that —he was a tent maker and he brought those things with him and while he was there preaching, he made tents and sold them and used the money to buy his own food and what he needed.)
Vs. 7 Paul said he was g__________________ , as a n_______________ is with children.
5882. Vs. 8 We were af____________________ (loving). We wanted to give you the gospel, but we also were willing to give you our “souls” (heart) as you were dear to us.
5883. Vs. 9 You remember how hard we worked. We worked n_____________ and
d__________ to provide for ourselves—-so no one could accuse us of taking from you.
5884. Vs. 10 You are a witness —and so is God—-that we behaved ourselves without blame. Vs. 11 We preached, and co_______________ you. We charged you (meaning—we told you firmly what was right——as a f_______________ does for his children.
5885. Vs. 12 We “charged” you —meaning: challenge you—-to walk (live) worthy of God—who called you into his kingdom.
Vs. 13 We thank God—that when you heard the word of God —-you believed it to be the word of God and not just words of men.
Vs. 14 You became f_________________ of God. You have suffered for believing—-like those believers in Judea—as the Jews there give them trouble.
(In the cities that Paul preached—-when the people became believers in Jesus—the other people in town gave them much trouble. The people in these cities worshiped idols and they did not like it that these believers left the idols to worship Jesus. This is also the reason they gave Paul so much trouble and beat him and put him in jail—because he preached Jesus.)
5886. Vs. 15 Paul is saying that the Jews in Judea—-killed J___________, and all through their history they killed men who were p______________(preachers). They have persecuted (hurt) us—Paul and his helpers.
5887. Vs. 16 They tell us we can not speak and preach to the G______________—-so they might be saved. The wrath (anger) of God is on them for doing this.
Vs. 17 Paul said, We have had to leave you for awhile. But we wanted to come back again to see you. You are always in our hearts.
5888. Vs. 18 We would have come to you but S____________ caused trouble and we could not come.
Vs. 19,20 You are our hope and joy. You are now believers and ready for the Lord’s coming.
