John Chp. 8 Vs. 21-30
Verse 21 Jesus is talking to the Jewish leaders and the people:
He said: I go my way and you will seek (look for) me: you will die in your sins.
Verse 22 Then the Jews said: Will he kill himself ? He said: Where I go you can not come.
Verse 23 Jesus said to them: You are from beneath (down, under). I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
Verse 24 Jesus said: That is why I said to you—-that you will die in your sins—-because if you do not believe that I am he (the Messiah, the Promised One, The Promised Savior)—-you will die in your sins.
Verse 25 They said to Jesus: Who are you?
Jesus said to them: I am the same as I said to you from the beginning.
Verse 26 Jesus said: I have many things to say and to judge of you. He that sent me is true. I speak to the world—those things that I have heard from him.
Verse 27 They did not understand that Jesus was talking about God the Father in heaven.
Verse 28 Jesus said: When you have lifted up the Son of Man (Jesus)—-then you will know that I am he. You will know that I do nothing of myself. I do as my Father has taught me. I speak these things.
(When Jesus said “When you have lifted up the Son of Man”—Jesus was talking about when they would “lift up” Jesus on a cross.
Verse 29 Jesus said: He that sent me—is with me. The Father has not left me alone. I always do those things that please Him.
(Think—How good it would be if we could say—I always do those things that please God the Father.)
Verse 30 As Jesus was talking —-many of the people believed him.
