Ephesians     Chp 3    Vs. 1-21

5680. Vs. 1-6 Paul is explaining how that in times past—the Jewish people did not understand that God wanted the non-Jewish people to worship him as God, too.

Most of the non-Jewish people worshipped idols.

The Jewish people knew this was wrong. God had told them that they were never to worship or pray to an idol.

The Jewish people knew what the non-Jewish (Gentile) people were doing was wrong in God’s eyes—but they thought it was none of their business—and they did not try to change them.

The “mystery” that Paul talks about—-was that God wanted the Gentiles to come to Him and worship Him, too.

Paul sometimes calls this “a mystery” (something you do not know or do not understand).

The Jewish people– it seemed—did not think much on trying to “preach” to the Gentiles become believers.

Some preaching to Gentiles happened—especially by some of the prophet/preachers that God told them to go speak to the Gentile people.

Paul tells how God came to him in a vision and told Paul that he was to go to the Gentiles and preach to them.

At the time of Paul—-there were some “missionary” Jewish men who went to other nations to preach—but it was not many.

Most of the Jewish people Paul knew— were not trying to get the Gentiles to believe in God.

None of the other disciples were preaching to the Gentiles.

So this was a new “idea” that someone should go preach to to the Gentiles.

The disciples of Jesus—were preaching to the Jewish people and trying to get them to accept and believe that Jesus was the Son of God. They were not preaching to Gentiles.

Paul was almost the first one to go as a missionary to the Gentiles.

When Paul went to a city—-he went to the Jewish church first to preach to them about Jesus—-but then he went to the Gentiles in the city.
