Galatians       Chp 4 Vs. 20-31

5613. Vs. 20- 21 Paul tells them that he wants to be with them and talk to them.

Then he said to them—-Tell me—do you really want to be under the ____________ ? (meaning the Old Testaments rules and laws).

5614. Vs. 22-23 Abraham had ______ sons. One was by a
_________________ (slave) and one was by a ________________________ (his wife).

5615. The son who was born of the bondwoman was born after the
___________________. (Meaning—This was Sarah’s trying to make God’s promise of a “son” happen.

God made a promise to Abraham that he would have a son—-but it was 25 years—later—that God allowed Sarah to give birth.

So for 25 years—they were waiting for God to keep his promise!!

Sarah thought she would “help God” by letting Abraham have sex with her woman slave and have a child. Sarah could take the child as her own.

So, the birth of this son—was not by God’s doing— or to fill God’s promise—it was of man’s “working’ to make it happen.
It was of the “flesh”—of man’s doing.)

The son who was born of the freewoman—Abraham’s wife—was the son of p_____________+—-and it was of “faith”—of God’s doing.

5616. Vs. 24 These two sons—represent the “two covenants”—
(a legal agreement)—-the bond woman’s son represents the law of M_____________ and the commandments given to him at Mt. Sinai.

The free woman’s son represents “faith”—to receive the promise God made.

5617. Vs. 25-26 The laws given at Mt. Sinai—are the rules and laws that the Jewish people in Jerusalem were living by—which had them in “bondage” of trying to keep the law perfectly.

But Jerusalem—which is above—-meaning heaven—is of f________.
And this Jerusalem is the mother of us all—meaning Christians.

5618. Vs. 27 -28 The wife that was barren and could not have children —now has many children. Isaac was the child of
p ___________ and as Christians—so are we.

5618. Vs. 29 Ishmael–son of the bond woman—persecuted—made fun of, –was mean to—-Isaac—the son of promise.

That is what is happening now, with those Jewish preachers that say you must follow the Old Testament law of circumcision.

Vs. 30 The scriptures say—”Cast out—throw out—the ________ ____________and her son. The bond woman will not be allowed to stay with the son of the free woman.”

Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away.

5619. Vs. 31 We, (as Christians–by faith) are children of the
__________ woman.
