II Corinthians     Chp 11    Vs. 1-33

In this chapter, Paul is talking to the believers in Corinth about some of the ministers/preachers that have come to preach to them.

Paul does not think that these preachers have done right.

Some of them were preaching things that were not true.
Paul called it a “different gospel”.

Some of them wanted payment for preaching.

Paul did not charge people for preaching. He earned his own money making tents. Or sometimes, he accepted offerings from other churches who wanted to help him.

The some of the believers at Corinth were criticizing Paul.
They said he was a poor speaker. He was weak.

They were more impressed with these new preachers who seemed so smart and smooth.

Paul feels they have deceived the people.

Paul said Vs. 14 Even Satan can make himself seem like an “angel of light” to deceive people.

Paul is upset about it He feels that these new preachers will do harm to the believers. He is “jealous” over them—meaning he wants to protect them—like they are his “children”.

Paul begins to tell them about himself. He feels like this is boasting, bragging. He feels foolish doing this. —But he wants the people to know that he has knowledge —-and he has suffered many things as he as preached.

Vs. 21 Paul begins to tell about himself.
