II Corinthians Chp 1 Vs. 1-24

This is Paul’s second letter to the believers at Corinth.

(Again, This letter of Paul is very hard to make questions from it.
Paul uses a lot of “flowery”–”fancy” words and long sentences.
Things that could be said in a few simple words.
He is trying to be polite to these people and say things gently and kindly.
But there are things they are doing that are wrong and need to be changed and corrected.)

5435. Vs. 1 This letter is from P_________ and T_____________.

5436. Vs. 2-3 Paul gives greetings.
Vs. 4 God comforts us in our times of tribulation (troubles)
So that we can ________________________________________

5437. Vs. 5, 6 Paul said—as our sufferings became great —so God’s consolation (comfort) also grew toward us.

And God will comfort you also—as you suffer for Christ’s sake.

Vs. 7,8 We want you to know about our troubles in Asia.

We were pressed out of measure (pushed to the limit of our patience and strength to endure).

We despaired (thought all was lost) even of l____________. (We thought we would die.)

5438. V. 9 We had the sentence of death in us–(we thought we would die). But we did not trust in our own strength—-but in God who has raised the d____________.

Vs. 10 He delivered (saved) us from d_______________. We believe He will delivered us in the future.

5439. Vs. 11 You help us by your p________________ for us.

Vs. 12 We rejoice (are glad) and we have this testimony—-that we have a clear conscience (thoughts) —that we have acted honestly toward you. Not with our own wi_______________. But by the grace of God we have spoken truth to you.

Vs. 13, 14, 15 The things I wrote before were clear, straight, talk.
You make us glad. We hope that we make you glad.

Vs. 16 I had thought I would come to visit you again as I was traveling to other places.

Vs. 17 You may asked why I changed my mind?
Did I say that lightly and did not mean it?

No, When I say yes, or no—I mean it. I don’t say things I don’t mean.

Paul explains in Vs. 18–24 That his yes, means yes, and his no, means no.
Like God—God’s promises are true. God does not waver (change back and forth) about his promises.

God is the one Timothy, Silas, and I preached to you. All of God’s promises are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

God gives us the ability to stand firm and steady.

I call on God to be my witness. I am telling the truth.

The reason I did not come back to Corinth was to save you from a stern hard scolding about what is happening there.

That does not mean that we want to tell you how to put your faith into practice. We are not trying to control you.

We want to work together with you—so you will stand firm in the faith and you will have joy.
