A New Heaven and a New Earth. When? What is it like?

A New Heaven and a New Earth
When ? What is it like?

By Joyce Webb 2024

Revelation Chp. 20 KJV (I have changed harder words and put in easier ones. The meaning is the same.)

Vs. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled (went) away; and there was found no place for them.

Vs. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;
and the books were opened;

and another book was opened, which is the book of life;

and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Vs. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it;

and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:
(those who died and are waiting in hell for their judgment)

and they were judged every man according to their works.

Vs. 14 Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death.

(People die physically the first time, but now they will “die” spiritually forever in hell.
Death in hell will not be like one is asleep and knows nothing. They will know they are in flames of fire and have memory of their life.)

Vs. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation Chp 21: Vs. 1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away;
and there was no more sea.

VS. 2 And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven……

Vs. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying,
Behold (Look) —the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell (live( with them,
and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Vs. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away,

Vs. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said,
Behold (Look),— I make all things new,
And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Vs. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain,
and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem,
descending (coming down) out of heaven from God.

Vs. 11 Having the glory of God; and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

Vs. 12 It had a wall —clear as crystal; it was high,
and had 12 gates,
and at the gates 12 angels
and names written on the gates, are the names of the 12 tribes of the children of Israel.

Vs. 13 On the east — 3 gates, on the north –3 gates, on the south –3 gates, and on the west— 3 gates.

Vs. 14 And the Wall of the city had 12 foundations, and on them were the names of the 12 apostles (disciples) of the Lamb (Jesus).

Vs. 16 The city was 4-square. The length was the same as the width—-it measured 1500 miles.
(1500 miles long and 1400 miles wide.)

Vs. 17 The wall measured 66 feet thick.

Vs. 18 The building of the wall was of jasper,
and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.

Vs. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were garnished
(decorated) with all kinds of precious stones.
The first foundation was jasper.
The second sapphire,
The third chalcedony.
The fourth emerald.
The fifth sardonic.
The sixth sardius.
The seventh chrysolite.
The eighth beryl
The ninth topaz
The tenth chrysoprasus,
The 11th jacinth
The12th amethyst.

Vs. 21 The 12 gates were 12 pearls. Every gate was one pearl.

Vs. 22 I saw no temple in it—for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb (Jesus) are the temple in it.

Vs. 23 The city had no need of the sun or the moon to shine in it. For the glory of God did light it. The Lamb is the light of it.

Vs. 24 The nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it. The kings of the earth bring their glory and honor to it.

Vs. 25 The gates of it shall not be shut at all by day—-for there shall be no night there.

Vs. 27 There shall in no wise (way) enter into it any thing that makes it not holy—no unholy thing. Nothing that is sinful. Nothing that makes a lie.

Only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life can enter in.

Revelation Chp. 22 Vs. 1 The angel showed me a pure river of water of life.
It was clear as crystal. It came out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Vs. 2 In the middle of the street—-on either side of the river—there was a tree of life.
It had fruit—12 different kinds. It had fruit every month.
The leaves of the tree were for healing. (or to keep people healthy)

Vs. 3 There shall be no more curse.
(After Adam sinned—the earth was cursed with weeds and thorns, etc.)

The throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it. His servants will serve Him.

Vs. 4 They shall see His face.
His name shall be in their foreheads.

Vs. 5 There shall be no night. They will not need a candle.
Nor need the light of the sun.
For the Lord God gives them light,
and they shall reign forever and ever.

Isaiah 65: 17 For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former (one before) shall not be remembered, nor come to mind.

But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping (crying) shall be no more heard , nor the voice of crying.

There shall be no more thence (from now on) an infant of days, nor an old man that has not filled his days:
For the child shall die an 100 years old;
But the sinner being 100 years old shall be accursed (cursed).

(This verse is difficult to understand—–as it is included here in verses having to do with a new heaven and new earth.
Bible teachers do not seem to have an answer for why it is included here either.

This verse in Isaiah seems to say that there will be death—- even though people will live a long time.

In Revelation 21:4 It says there will be no more death.)

In Isaiah Vs. 25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain.

This verse makes also sounds like the 1000 year reign of Christ on earth.

But the beginning of this— in vs. 17—-says “a new heaven and new earth.”

In Revelation—the new heaven and new earth come after the 1000 years if finished.

Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved,
And the heavens rolled up like a scroll;
And all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and the fig falls from the tree.

Some Bible teachers include this verse with the new heavens and new earth verses—-but this chapter talks about things bad things happening to the seas, and animals—–it seems that these verses are talking about the time of the tribulation when the sun, moon, turned partly dark and the stars fall.
————–

II Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as (like) a thief in the night;

In which, the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with a fervent (great, strong) heat, and the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

(Like a thief in the night—would be the rapture—when Jesus comes in the clouds and the believers are caught up into the clouds.

No one knows when it will happen—it will happen in the blink of an eye.)

Peter seems to be talking about two different happenings.
One the rapture—-and later the new heaven and earth.

Not meaning that they happen at the same time.)

Vs. 13 ….we ….look for new heavens and a new earth, where in dwells (lives) righteousness.

——————-

It seems that some of the verses —especially in Isaiah and in Peter—-group happenings of the 1000 years and the years after it —together—-with the new heavens and new earth.

They all talk about a new heaven and new earth.

The book of Revelation seems clearer that the new heaven and new earth come after the 1000 years are finished.
