What Happens during the Millennium? Part 1

What Happens during the Millennium?

(Millennium–1,000 years)

Joyce Webb 2024

Part 1

The Bible speaks of the time of 1000 years—-at the end of earth’s time—-Jesus will return to earth the second time.
Jesus will rule over all the earth as King.

At the end of the Tribulation—-which is 7 years long—-Jesus returns to earth.

The Tribulation is a time of great trouble for everyone on earth and especially for Israel and its people.

There is a one world leader.
At first, people see him as someone who can fix the world’s problems.
He rules all the nations.

Later, they see his “dark, evil” side.

He requires everyone to take his mark—-so that they can buy things—-or sell things.

He requires people to bow down to an image make to look like him.

During the Tribulation time—-all kinds of bad things happen.

The sun gets dark, the moon gets dark and red, stars fall to the earth and cause much damage—large areas of hundreds of miles are exploded and burned.
There are storms, earthquakes, hurricanes, tidal waves.
Animals in the sea and land die.
There is sickness that spreads to millions of people—they die.

At the end of 7 years—many nations come together to fight against Israel. They plan to destroy Israel—so that there will be no Israel.

There are several places in the Bible that talk about this battle.
Some call it Armageddon.

Zechariah—Chp. 12 :14—-it tells some things about this battle

From the New Living Translation. And other translations.

God is speaking to Zechariah:

Zechariah Chp.14 Vs. 2 One that day—I will gather all the nations to fight against Jerusalem. The city will be taken, the houses plundered (things inside taken). The women will be raped.

Half of the population (people) will be taken into captivity.
Half will be left among the ruins (the broken buildings) of the city.

Vs. 3 Then the Lord will go out to fight against those nations, as he has fought in times past.

Zechariah Chp. 12: 1-10
Vs.2 I will make Jerusalem and Judah like an intoxicating drink.
(capable of making somebody drunk — often so much so that the person does things that are not of good sense )

They will send their armies to besiege (take over) Jerusalem.

Vs. 3 On that day—I will make Jerusalem a “heavy stone”, a burden for the world.
None of the nations who try to lift it will escape unscathed (without being hurt.)
(In other words, every nation who comes against Israel —-God will punish them.)

Vs. 4 On that day—-I will cause every horse to panic and every rider to lose his “nerve” (courage).

I will watch over the people of Judah.
I will blind the horses of her enemies.

(There are examples in other places in the Bible where God “blinded” the eyes of men. Their eyes did not become physically blind in that they could not see —–but that they did not seem to notice things—they look passed things and did not “see” it to realize what it was. I think this is what will happen to the horses.)

vs., 6 On that day, they (Judah) will burn up all the neighboring nations right and left, —–while the people living in Jerusalem remain (stay) safe and secure.

Vs. 9 For my plan is to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Jesus Comes to Save Israel and fight the nations.

Zechariah 14: 4 On that day–his feet (Christ) will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east.

And the Mount of Olives will split (break) apart (in two parts)
—-making a wide valley running from east to west.

For half of the mountain will move toward the north and half toward the south.

Zechariah Chp. 14:5 You (people of Israel) will flee (run) through this valley. It will reach across to Azal.

You will flee as you did from the earthquake in the days of
King Uzziah of Judah.

Zechariah 14: 5 Then the Lord, my God, will come, and all his holy ones with him.

(Holy ones—”the redeemed”—people who believed in Jesus–those who had died —-and those who were caught up in the clouds (rapture)—are now coming back to earth with Jesus.)

Revelation 19:11-21 English Standard Version
Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse!
The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.
His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems,(crowns)— and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.
He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
And the armies of heaven, arrayed (dressed) in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.
From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron.
Satan is Bound

Revelation 20:1-3
Then I saw an angel come down from heaven—with a key to the bottomless pit—and a heavy chain in his hand.

He seized (took) the dragon—that old serpent–the Devil, Satan,—-and bound him in chains for 1000 years.

The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so Satan could not deceive (fool) the nations anymore—-until the 1000 years were finished.

Afterward, he would be released (let go) for a little while.

Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge.
And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded (heads cut off) for the testimony about Jesus—for proclaiming (preaching) the word of God.

And I saw souls of those who had not worshipped the beast or his statute—-nor accepted his mark on their forehead or their hands.

They came to life again,—and the reigned with Christ for a 1000.

After the Battle

Zechariah Chp. 13 vs. 8 Two-thirds of the people in the land will be cut off
(killed) and die, says the Lord, —-but one-third will be left in the land.

I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure.
(They will suffer —and things will be hard during this time.)

Zechariah 13: 9 They will call on my name, and I will answer them.

Zechariah 12: 10 Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on all the people of Jerusalem. They will look on me whom they pierced (cut) and mourn (be sad and sorry) for him as for an only son.

(The Jewish people will see Jesus as the Messiah that they have waited for.

They will realize that it is the same Jesus that came to earth before —-and the Jewish leaders wanted him killed—-they will be full of sorrow— to realized how they had not believed him when he was here the first time.)

Zechariah 14:6 And the Lord will be king over all the earth.

On that day—there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshipped.

After the Battle the Enemy Nations of Israel are Punished

Zechariah 14: 12 And the Lord will send a plague (sickness) on all nations that fought against Jerusalem.

Their people will become like walking corpses (dead people)—their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will shrivel (dry up) in their sockets (place of the eye). Their tongues will decay (rot) in their mouths.

Vs. 15 This same plague (sickness) will strike the horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and all the other animals in the enemy camps.

Vs. 13 On that day—they will be terrified, (very afraid) stricken by the Lord with great panic (fear) (The Lord will cause them to have great fear.).

They will fight against each other—hand to hand combat (fighting).

Vs. 14 Judah, too, will be fighting at Jerusalem.

The wealth (riches) of all the neighboring nations will be captured
(taken) —–great quantities ( a lot) of gold, silver and clothing.
