Prophecies About Jesus that Came True
By Joyce Webb 2024
There are many prophecies in the Bible that tell of a coming Savior—and some of the things that will happen to him and some of the things he will do.
Here are some of the main prophecies about Jesus.
Prophecy #1
In Genesis, God told the serpent—Satan—that someday the “seed” of the woman—-a child born to a woman—-would bruise (hurt) his head.
The serpent was the one who tempted Eve to eat from the tree. The serpent was Satan.
Genesis 3:14,15 Using my words—
God said, “ I will put enmity (great hatred, enemy) between your “seed”–those you produce—those who come from you—- and her “seed”—the one that comes from her. It shall bruise thy head, and you will bruise his heel.”
The “seed” of the woman—-was Jesus.
The “seed” of Satan are those who follow him.
It was the woman’s seed only.
No earthly man was part of that seed.
The Holy Spirit came over Mary and made a baby grow in her.
This “seed”—Jesus —would “bruise” the head of Satan.
Satan tried many times to make things happen so that Jesus would not be born. He tried many times to kill Jesus after he was born.
Some would say that Satan finally did kill Jesus.
But Jesus said, “No man takes my life from me, but I lay it down of myself. And I have the power to take it up again.” John 10:18
Satan moved men to kill Jesus. Satan put hate in their heart so they were the enemy of Jesus.
Jesus also had the power—within himself—to give up his spirit and to take his spirit back again.
Jesus had “life” in himself.
That is an important truth. Jesus was God.
No man has the power to give himself life. He might kill himself—-but he can not come alive by himself again.
If Satan fully understood that by Jesus’ dying for the payment of men’s sins—-and Jesus’ coming to life again—-would give men the gift of life forever——-Satan would not have wanted Jesus to die.
Satan bruised Jesus’ —heel— in killing Jesus—–but Jesus bruised Satan’s — head. He crushed Satan’s head.
Jesus’ death and coming to life again—-took all power of death away from Satan.
Satan can no more make people die for the sins or take them to hell.
People may choose to follow Satan and they will go to hell, —but it will be that person’s choice to do it.
No one needs to go to hell. Jesus has made a way for their sins to be forgiven—-sins washed away. They will be given life forever in heaven.
The person needs to admit he is a sinner.
He needs to come to Jesus and ask for forgiveness.
The punishment for sin is death. The person who sins has to pay the penalty of death—eternal death.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages (payment) of sin is death.
But the gift of God—is eternal life—-through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Jesus came and paid the death penalty for man.
Since Jesus—and only Jesus–is the One who paid the death penalty—-then Jesus is the only One who can forgive sin.
When Satan got men to hate Jesus and kill him—-Satan was—-not knowing—- giving up his power over men.
He had an innocence man die. That man paid the death penalty for all men.
This verse in Genesis is the first promise and prophecy—-
that Jesus would come to earth through a woman.
Not just the Bible—-but history—tells us —that a man named Jesus lived and died on a cross—-he was seen again alive.
