I Corinthians Chp 10 Vs 1-33
5285. Vs. 1,2 Paul is reminding people of the time the people of Israel left Egypt. How God led them by a c___________.

Vs. 15 -18 Paul talks about the “cup of blessing” and the “bread”
—-the “blood of Christ” and the “body of Christ”. What is Paul talking about here?_____________________________________
Paul says that those who take the cup of blessing and the bread are sharing in the sacrifice that Christ made for us.
Christ gave is gave his blood and body to die.
When we take the cup of blessing (wine, grape juice) and when we eat the bread—-we are taking these symbols into our bodies and we share in what Christ did.
This is a holy thing. We are joining ourselves with Christ.
5294. Vs. 19-20 When the Gentiles give offerings and make sacrifices to idols—-they are joining themselves to d_______________. (evil spirits).
Vs. 21 If we have joined ourselves to Christ—-we cannot take food offered to devils.
5295. Vs. 22,23 To do that—–it would be like trying to make the Lord j_________________.
(The Bible talks about the Lord being jealous of his people.
Meaning—-as a husband is jealous—– if his wife looks at another man.
God often called the people of Israel “His bride”.
He did not want them to worship any other God. That is one of the 10 .)
Vs. 23 Paul said in Vs. 19 that an idol is “nothing” and the sacrifice to it is “nothing”.
Meaning— though an evil spirit was with the idol—an evil spirit is not more powerful than God. God can easily take care of an evil spirit.
5296. Yet—Paul said—-Vs. 23 All things are l________________ for me. But not all things are wise to do.
All things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify—build up.
(Paul did not fear eating food given to idols. But he did not think it wise to eat it.
Other Christians would see him doing it, and they would think he was wrong to do it. So for their sake—Paul would not eat food offered to idols.)
Vs. 24 Do not do what pleases you—-think of others and do what is good for them.
Vs. 25 Paul said whatever is sold in the market place—-do not ask if it was offered to idols. If you want the meat—buy it, eat it.
Vs. 26 All things created are for us to enjoy.
Vs. 27 If someone invites you to a meal—don’t ask if it was offered to an idol—-just eat it.
Vs. 28 But if someone tells you–”This has been offered to an idol”—— Then do not eat it. So that you make a good example for their sake.
Vs. 29 You may ask. Why should I not eat it because of another person’s conscience?
Vs. 30 If I believe I have the freedom to eat anything because of God’s grace—-why shouldn’t I eat it?
Vs. 31 Paul said—Whatever you eat or drink—-do it as unto the glory of God.
Vs. 32 You would not be giving glory to God —-if the person watching you thinks you are doing wrong against God.
So, for their sake—don’t eat or drink it.
That is true—if you are with a Jew or with a Gentile.
Vs. 33 I, Paul, try not to offend (hurt) others—-I don’t just please myself. I try to think of others—and what would be a benefit it them. I do this so that all men will be saved.
