I Corinthians          Chp 7 Vs 18-40

5238. Verse 18 If any man who is ___________________ becomes a believer—don’t make him become unc______________________.

5239. Verse 19 C____________________ is nothing.
Un________________________ is nothing.
But—keeping the c_____________________ of God is the important thing.

5240. Verse 20 Let every man’s physical body stay the same—as when he first became a believer.

(Remember—-there was much argument about circumcision. Many of the Jews who became believers felt that any Gentile who became a believer should be circumcised.
Paul talked it over with the disciples and believers in Jerusalem. They all decided that circumcision was not a requirement to being a believer.

Being a believer —depended only on a person’s faith in Jesus and forgiveness of sin.
It did not having anything to do with changing one’s physical body or in following the Old Testament laws.)

5241. Vs 21 Paul goes on to say—If you are a s_______________ when you become a believer—-then stay a __________________. But if you have a chance to be f_____________ do it.

5242. Vs 22 If you are a servant, and you become a believer—you are now the L________ f______________.

Also, if you are a free person when you become a believer——–you are now the L___________ s______________.

(Paul is referring to spiritual things now. He means—do not get caught up in temptations and sins that will make you in bondage to it.)

5244. Vs 24 Let every person, who is called by God to be a believer—-let him a____________ (live) with God.

5245. Vs. 25 Now (Paul talks about “virgins” —-those who are not married) Paul says that he has no
c__________________ from the Lord.

He —as a faithful minister of Christ—-is giving his own thoughts about it.

5246. Vs. 26 (last part of vs.) Paul thinks it is good for a man to be unmarried.

5247. Vs. 27 But if you are married do not try to be

But if you do not have a wife—do not _________________________________________.

5248. Vs. 28 If you marry—you have not ______________.
This is true for a young woman also.

But—you will have ___________________ in the flesh.

5249. Vs. 29 Paul says the time is short (meaning before Jesus comes again)
(We know now—2000 years later—that Jesus did not come as soon as Paul thought he would.)

Paul begins to tell them that they should give their attention to doing the Lord’s work.

He speaks in exaggeration —meaning —to make something bigger that it really is.

He says—let those who have w___________ to act like they had none.

5250. Vs. 30 To those who w_______________ (cry) as though they did not.

To those who are happy and r_______________ to be as though they are not.

To those who b_______ things, as though they did not buy things.

(In other words, Paul wants people to not give all their attention to things of this world. They need to remember that they need to save some of the energy for doing the Lord’s work.)

5251. Vs. 31 We use the things of this world.
But do not let “things” take up all your thoughts and time. Because our time in this world is short.
Things of the Lord last forever.

Vs. 32 A person who is un________________ cares for the things of the Lord and how to please the Lord.

5252. Vs. 33 The man that is married cares for

5254. Vs. 35 Paul is trying to show them that an unmarried person has more freedom to work for the Lord.
