I Corinthians         Chp 4 Vs 11-21

5188.Vs. 11 Paul is telling of some of the things he has suffered as he has traveled preaching.

Paul said—Even now, to this present hour—–we are
h_______________, and t_________________, and are
n_______________ (I think he means—not having proper clothing –like warm clothing) and are buffeted–(hit with someone’s hand).

(Paul was often beaten before being put in jail.)

We have no certain (sure) d____________________ place—a place to live.

(Paul lived with whoever invited him to stay with them while he preached in their town.)

5189. Vs. 12 Paul said—We labor, working with our own
hands, but we are reviled–(people saying mean things to them and about them) (Paul’s labor— was making tents. He did this to earn his own money as he was preaching to the people.)

Paul said—We bless others, but we are p___________________
(hurt, made fun of). But we suffer it—(we endure it–we put up with it)

5190. Vs. 13 Paul said—We are d_______________(people saying bad things about them).

We entreat—ask for again and again—(probably for the people to listen to what Paul has to say about Jesus.)

We are made to be “f________”–(dirt)—of the world.
We are like off scouring—(dirt, garbage, trash) even unto this day.

5191. Vs. 14 Paul said—I do not write these things to s______________ you, but to warn you.

5192. Paul said, You have 10,000 people who would “instruct” you in Christ.

(In other words, there were many people who would tell you how you should live, teach, do things.

Yet, you do not have many “f___________s”.

Paul said, For in Christ Jesus, I am the one who “begot” you.

In other words, I am the one who came to you and told you how to have spiritual birth in Jesus —by telling you the gospel.

Paul is saying that he has been like a “father” to them in a spiritual way.

5193. Vs. 16 I beseech—beg—you to be f___________________
of __________.

5194. Vs. 17 This is the reason I have sent T_________________
to you. He is my beloved son.

(Timothy was not Paul’s real son—-only in a spiritual way—because Paul preached to Timothy and Timothy became a believer. Timothy learned from Paul and later traveled with Paul as he preached. Paul loved him like a son.)

Timothy—-is faithful in the Lord. He will bring to your
r____________________ of the things I did and taught you.

It is the same thing, I teach in every church.

5195. Vs. 18 Some people are acting proud and say I would not come to you.

Vs. 19 But I will come to you soon—if the Lord wills.

You will then know that I will not speak like those who are proud and “puffed” up with their own importance.
I will speak to you in p______________.

5196. Vs. 20 The Kingdom of God is not in (fancy) words, but in
p________________.

5197. Vs. 21 What would you like to see? Do you want me to come to you with a rod—-to speak words of scolding? Or shall I come in l______________.

Shall I come to you with a spirit of m__________________ (humble.)?
