I Corinthians Chp 3 Vs 1-22
5166. Vs. 1 Paul said that this group of Christians were not spiritual.
He said they were c_______________. They were like b_____________ in Christ.
(The word carnal means —things that are about the physical body.
Meaning—sexual desires, desire for pleasures, “eat, drink, and be merry (happy) kind of thing.),—- or about personal feelings of pride, and who is best or right.
This group of Christians had not grown in deeper and more mature in the teaching of Christ.
They were still like a baby in how they were living as a Christian.
They still were doing things that were not what a Christian should be doing.
5167. Vs. 2 Paul said that he had to teach them about spiritual things— like someone who was feeding m____________ to a baby, because they were not ready to hear deeper things that would be like eating m___________ that a grown person would eat.
5168. Vs. 3 Paul said that —among the believers were people who showed e___________________ and strife (arguing, fighting) divisions—meaning –arguments, saying things that upset people and made them angry —cause arguments.
5169. Vs. 4 One of you says you are a follower of P__________.
Someone else says—they are a follower of A_____________.
5170. Vs. 5 Paul said—we are both ministers—preachers—-just as God has given to each person a calling to do something.
Vs. 6 Paul said, I have p_______________ (like a person who puts seed into the ground). Apollo has w_____________________ (like someone who waters the seed).
But it is God who makes things grow. God is the one who teaches people how to be a better Christian.
5171. Vs. 7 So it is not important —who plants the seed, or who waters the seed—it is ______________ who makes things grow.
5172. Vs. 8 The person who plants, and the person who waters are equal. Every person will receive a reward for his work.
Vs. 9 We all work together—with God. God is the one who makes things grow. God is the builder.
Vs. 10 Paul said that God has given his grace to be a wise
___________________________.
I have laid a f_________________________.
Another person has built upon that foundation.
Every person needs to be careful how he builds.
Vs.11 The only foundation that can be solid and true—-is the foundation of J______________C____________.
5173 Vs. 12 This foundation (Jesus Christ) is a solid true foundation of g_____________. s__________________ and
__________________ __________________.
These things will not last—w_________________, h____________, s_________________.
5174. Vs. 13 Every man’s work (for the Lord) will be shown some day.
It will be tested by fire. (God’s fire). In heaven, some day, our works will be shown to be lasting, or not.
Fire will burn up the w___________________, h______________,
and s_____________________.
But the g_____________. s___________________, and
________________ ___________________ will go through the fire and not burn up.

Things that help them see that they are a sinner, and they need to be forgiven.
There are things that churches do—that are not worthy things that bring people to Jesus.
It is ok to do fun things sometimes, but those things do not bring people to Jesus.
When you get to heaven—you do not want all your “works” for God to “burn up”. You want lasting works.)
5172. Vs. 15 The person’s “work” may burn up, but the person is a Christian—so he —himself— will be saved. He gets to stay in heaven, but he will have no reward for his “work”.
5173. Vs. 16 Paul said—that we–each person—is a t_______________ of God.
Our bodies are like a temple or church where God’s presence lives—-because the Holy Spirit lives in us.
5174. Vs. 17 If a person defiles (makes dirty, unclean, sin) in his temple—God shall destroy—that temple.
For the temple of God is h______________. You are that t________________.
5175. Vs. 18 Paul said—let no man deceive himself.
If anyone has the opinion and thought —that he himself is wise in this world—-let him think of himself as a fool. So that he can become wise.
(People who think they know it all—-are not often as wise and smart as they think. They are fools to have the opinion that they are wiser than everyone.)
(It would be better to think of ones self as being a fool and needing to learn—-then you would be open to learn new things.)
Vs. 19 For the w_______________ of this w_______________ is foolishness with God.
It is written in scripture—-”He takes the wise in their own craftiness (trying to deceive others.) God out-smarts those who think they are so smart.
(Remember in the Old Testament—when Israel was fighting against enemy armies. The leaders of the enemy army thought they could not be beat–defeated. They thought they were smart fighters more than the Israel soldiers.
God send fog, and the enemy could not see. God sent hail stones and beat them down. God made water look like blood—the enemy became afraid and turned back. In one place, God said he would have sent hornets (wasps) on the enemy to drive them out.
God’s wisdom—is much smarter—than any man’s wisdom.)
5176. Vs. 20 The Lord knows the _______________ of the wise.
They are vain—empty.
5177. Vs. 21 Let no man _______________ in men.
(Do not put all your trust in men.)
All things are yours. (Meaning—God is the One who will give you what you need. If you need to know what to do, if you need how to do something, if you need understanding in something, —-God is the one who can help you. You can trust Him—more than men.)
5178. Vs. 22 It does not matter who the leader is—Paul, Apollo, or Cephas or someone else—-or the world, or life, or death, or things here and now, or things to come—all are yours.
You belong to C________________. Christ is God’s.
(Meaning—do not put all your trust and confidence in a leader.
God’s Spirit is able to be yours in all things—now and in the future—to be what you need and to lead you and teach you.)
