I Corinthians      Chp 2 Vs 1-16

5149. Verse 1 Paul said—”When I came to you—I did not come with
_______________________ speech. (Meaning fancy, big words that would make him sound very educated and intelligent.)

(Yet—Paul’s teacher had been one of the most famous teachers !)

Paul said —he did not come trying to act as a wise person full of wisdom. (Yet—Paul was very wise and full of the Holy Spirit.)

5150. Verse 2 Paul said—I was not going to try to show you all I knew. I was coming to tell you one thing—-to tell you about _________________ and him being _________________.

5151. Verse 3 I was with you in w______________________ and in f______________ and in much ______________________.

(It seems that Paul was nervous when he first started preaching to them.)

5152. Verse 4 My speech , and my preaching, was not with ____________________ (fancy words) of w_____________.
But rather Paul wanted to demonstrate (show) the p_________________ of ___________.

5153. Verse 5 Paul did this because he did not want them to put their faith in fancy words of the w_______________ of m__________.

(In those days, there were many Greek teachers. They were thought to be wise and deep thinkers. They and other men would discuss and argue for hours about things. They all sounded so smart and wise.

Paul said—I did not want to come to you like that. I want to just talk in plain easy words so that you would not put your faith in fancy arguments like the Greeks.

5154. But he wanted them to put their faith in the p__________ of __________.

5155. Verse. 6 Paul said, When I am with those who are p______________—-meaning those who are mature in God’s word—-then I use bigger, deeper words. Yet, not words of the w_____________ of men of this world. But words of wisdom of God.

Men’s words of wisdom will come to nothing.

Verse 7 I speak words of wisdom of God. Some of God’s words were hard to understand what it meant.

5156. It was a puzzle, like a m___________. That was the way God planned for it to be. He planned it that way even before the w___________ was made.

5157. Verse 8 If p________________ of this world had understood how everything was going to be and happened—-they would never have crucified Jesus. (Paul seems to be talking about the Prince of this World —meaning Satan.

Satan (Lucifer) became the Prince of this World when Adam disobeyed God and instead listened to Satan.

If Satan knew how it was going to be with Jesus—that he was going to die for the sin punishment for all men—-and all men would not have to die but be forgiven of their sin—–Satan would never have tried to kill Jesus.

5158. Verse 9 It is written in s_________________—-E_____ has not seen, and e______has not heard, and it has not entered in the h___________ (understanding) of man, the things that the God has prepared for them who love him.

So that we can know the things that are freely given to us from God.

5162. Verse 13 I speak of these things. I do not speak from m_______‘s understanding and wisdom. I speak what the Holy Spirit t______________—-showing us spiritual things.

5163. Verse 14 The natural man does not receive the things of the S____________ of God. Such things seem like f__________________ to men.

5164. N________________ man can not know spiritual things of God—-because they have to be understood (discerned) by the s_____________.

5165. Verse 15 He that is s__________________ can judge all things.
Yet, he does not judge man.

(God alone will judge man.)

It means that men who have God’s spirit in them—-will have the wisdom to judge things they see and hear— and what other people teach—the Spirit will let them know what is truthful and what is not.

Verse 16 Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who can teach God?

But we do have the “mind of Christ” in us—-when we have the Holy Spirit in us.

(The Holy Spirit in us helps us to have thoughts and understanding like the mind of Christ.)

______________________

There are times—when we are very upset in our minds about things.

Maybe we are very angry about what someone has done. We can pray and say—”let me have the mind of Christ about this thing”.

The Holy Spirit will help us begin to see things about the situation that makes our anger become less and even leave us.
Maybe we are very discouraged about something—we can pray and say—”let me have the mind of Christ about this”—-the Holy Spirit will begin to speak into our minds words of encouragement and help.

Maybe we are having an argument with someone and we can not come to an agreement with them—-we can pray—”let me have the mind of Christ about this thing”—-and the Holy Spirit will lead us in our thinking to help us—-either in ways we can agree with someone or in ways we can work out the problem.

The Holy Spirit in us —helps us have “the mind of Christ”—-and sometimes we have to become mindful that we need to understand Christ’s way of thinking about a situation.
