Romans       Chapter 16     Verses 1-27

Paul is writing a closing to this letter to the Ronan believers.

Paul lists many people by name. He gives them credit and praise for their help in the Lord’s work.

Some are relatives of his.
Two of them went to prison with Paul for preaching about Jesus.

Some of them held meetings in their homes for the believers.

5129. Verse 17 Paul adds one final warning. He said to watch out for people who cause ____________________ and upset people’s faith by teaching things that are not the truth that Paul gave them.

5130. Verse 18 Paul said—Such people are not serving the Lord, but rather they are serving their own _____________ (self, own self-pride).

5131. They use words and speeches that d_________________ people. They especially upset new believers who are just learning the Lord’s ways.

Verse 19 Paul says he knows that the believers in Rome have been faithful and obedient. This has made him happy.

He wants them to be wise about other people and not to be deceived.

Paul prays that God will crush Satan under their feet. And that God’s grace will be with them.

In the next couple of verses, Paul speaks of other helpers.

Then Verse 25 Paul gives them to God to take care of.

He said that God will establish them—make them strong, and steady—according to the gospel, according to the “mystery”—

meaning God’s plan to include the Gentiles in redemption and salvation.

Salvation was not to be for Jews only.

That was not always clear in the Old Testament. Some of the Jewish leaders felt salvation was for Jews only.

Paul is saying—that God has always planned for the Gentiles to be part of His salvation.

That this salvation is to be preached in every nation. So that all people can be obedient to God and have faith.

Paul closes—-To God—-the only wise, be the glory– through Jesus Christ —forever. Amen.
