Romans Chapter 13 Verses 1-14

5069. Verse 1 Let every ______________ be subject (under the rule of, under the authority) unto the higher powers.

5070. There is no power but of _______________; the powers that be (gravity, laws of science) are ordained (ordered) of God.

5072. Verse 2 Who so ever resists (goes against, pushes away) the power, is resisting the o___________________ (laws) of God.

5073. And they that resist—shall receive to themselves d_____________________.

5074. Verse 3 For r_________________ are not a terror (to be feared) if you are doing good. You fear the rulers if you are doing __________________.

5075. Will you then not be afraid of the power? (You should have respectful fear of the ruler’s power) Do that which is g__________. You will have p__________________.

5076. Verse 4 Rulers are the “minister of God” to you for good.
But if you do e___________ —-be afraid.

5077. For the ruler does not have a s________________ in vain.
(he has a sword not for empty show—but to use it)

5078. He is the “minister of God” one who is a revenger (one who pays back) he will bring wrath (anger) upon the one who does e____________.

5079. Verse 5 So—you need to be subject (under authority—obey) ——not because you are afraid of his anger—-but for your c____________________ sake (peace in your mind that you are doing what is right).

Verse 6 For this reason—give tribute (taxes—pay your taxes).
The rulers are “God’s ministers” .

Verse 7 So—render (give) to them all that is due. Give the tribute –tax money to whom it is due.

Pay custom taxes (import taxes) to whom it is due.

Give respect (fear) and honor to those who are in charge over you.

5080. Verse 8 Do not o_________ any man anything. (Do not have debt to anyone.)

Love one another.

5081. The person who loves another has fulfilled the l_________. (Meaning the law of God.)

5082. Verse 9 You should not commit (do) a_________________.

5083. You should not k_________.

5084. You should not s___________.

5085. You should not b________ f______________ w_____________ (tell lies)

5086. You should not c_____________ (want what other people have so much that you do bad things to get it—-or your attitude becomes one of jealousy)

These commandments—and any others—-are obeyed automatically—if—-you are showing love to one another.

5087. Verse 10 L___________ does not work or do bad things to his neighbor.

By loving—we fulfill the law of God.

Verse 11 We know it is time to be alert and awake and knowing what is going on around us. We see the sin and darkness around us. The time of our salvation is more near than we think.

(Paul could see the sin people were doing. He felt that Jesus’ promise to return to earth the second time must be near. That they would all be saved out of this sinful world. Paul had no idea that Jesus’ second coming was a long way off.)

(But now today, it is near.)

5088. Verse 13 Let us walk h___________________, as those who walk not in sin and darkness—but as those who walk in the day or “light”.

5089. Not having riots. Not fighting. Not being d_____________.

Not “chambering”—chamber—bedroom—-meaning having sexually relations—not with your own wife or husband.

Not being “wanton”—-not controlling sexual behavior. Being
“sexy” in dress, acting sexy, often talking about having sex, having sex with many others, watching porn, etc.

Not in strife—arguing, causing upset and trouble, fighting.

Not in envy—-jealous, maybe so much as doing mean and bad things to someone.

5090. Verse 14 But put on the L___________ J_____________ C__________________ and do not allow your “flesh” desires to decide what you will do—-do not allow “lust” (sinful desires) to have a place in you.
