Bible Questions #5018- 5025

Romans          Chapter 11 Verses 25-36

5018. Paul is talking about how the Jews were like a branch on an olive tree.

Because the Jews would not believe that Jesus was God’s Son and the promised Messiah-Savior—-they were “cut off” like a branch of a tree is cut off.

Then God sent Paul and others to preach to the Gentiles. The Gentiles believed what they heard about Jesus and believed he was the Son of God and trusted Him to forgive their sins.

They were like a “wild branch” that was grafted into the olive tree—and grew—and produced fruit.

Paul said that —–God knew all this would happen. God knew the Jews would not accept Jesus.

God’s plan was —–to go to the Gentiles and give them an opportunity to believe and become God’s children.

The Jews were not the only people who would be “God’s children”—God planned for the Gentiles to be his children, too.’

Verse 25 Paul speaks of this as a “mystery”. All of it was God’s plan.

The Jews looked down on the Gentiles—so it was a surprise to the Jews that God wanted the Gentiles to be his children, too.

So the “blindness” of the Jews about Jesus—–became God’s open door to go to the Gentiles with the gospel.

Verse 26 And so all _________________ shall be ____________________. It is written, there shall come out of _______________ the D_____________________ .

5019. Verse 27 God said, This is my covenant or promise—-
I shall take away their ________________.

5020. Verse 28 They (the Jews) have been “enemies” of the gospel about Jesus——not believing in Jesus.

Still God thinks of the Jews as “b_______________” —because of his promise to Abraham.

5021. Verse 29 The g______________ and c______________ of God are without repentance.

Meaning—-when God gives someone a gift or skill or talent—God does not take it back. When God calls someone to come to him for salvation, or calls them to do a ministry—-God does not take it back.

5022. Verse 30 In times past, you have not believed ___________.

But now you have obtained (got) m_______________—-because of their (the Jews) unbelief.

5023. Verse 31 The Jews do not now believe. But because you Gentiles have believed—-they may want to believe also.

Verse 32 God has “closed the door” on the Jews —and “opened the door” for the Gentiles—-so that all may receive mercy.

“Closed the door” or “shut them up in their own unbelief”—-does not mean that God will not save Jewish people. Paul is making a “picture” with words. Showing God turning his back on trying to get the Jews to believe for now—-and turning to the Gentiles.

Paul always tried to get the Jewish people to believe in Jesus. But when they refused to hear him—Paul then began to preach to the Gentiles in the city.

There are verses in the Bible that say that in the “end times”—the Jews will come to believe in Jesus.

Verse 33 The w________________ and k__________________

ways —–we are not able to search out and understand.

5024. Verse 34 Who has known the m_____________ of the Lord?
Who has been the one to counsel him?

Verse 35 Who has given something to Him first? And then demand that God give something back to him?

5025. Verse 36 It is because of him, and through him, we have all things.

To Him be the g_____________ forever. Amen.
