——————————————–

Paul gives much writing to the Jewish people—-trying to show them that the Old Testament laws—-were written to show them what things were sin.

Before the laws were given—–men did not know that the things they were doing were wrong and sinful in God’s eyes.

The law told them that those things were sinful.

Sin is going against God. Sin is disobeying God. Adam disobeyed God.

God told Adam his disobeying would bring death.

God killed two animals and took their skins to make clothing for Adam and Eve. The animals died to cover man’s naked body.

(Adam did not see his naked body as wrong or sinful—until he disobeyed God and sinned.  Then Adam took leaves to cover himself.

His “nakedness” became shameful.  It was because of his sin.)

God told them to take a lamb. Kill it. Put it on an altar. God would forgive the man’s sin.

The lamb would die—-instead of the man.

Then Jesus came. He died—like the lamb—-for the people’s sin.

The lamb was an animal—not a person.

Jesus was a person. A perfect person who did not sin.

He was innocence. Yet he died—blamed for sinning.

He took man’s place in death.

He was the perfect sacrifice—death. No other sacrifice death needs to be made.

God accepted Jesus’ death as payment for man’s sin.

Man’s sin has been pain in full.

Man does not have to pay for his own sin.

He can come to Jesus and ask Jesus to forgive his sin and take his sin away.

Jesus is the only one who can do it—-because Jesus is the one who died to pay for sin.

Paul is trying to show the Jewish people—-that their hope of salvation and life forever is not because of their obeying the Old Testament laws.

Hope of salvation and life forever is in believing in Jesus and putting their faith and trust in Him.
