Acts Chapter 22 Vs. 17-30
Paul was telling the crowd of people how he became a believer in Jesus as God’s son.
Paul told about the sudden light from heaven and a voice talking to him. The voice said, “I am Jesus of Nazareth.“
The voice told him to go into Damascus and then God would tell him what to do.
Paul has been made blind by this light. The men with him lead him into Damascus.
Paul was in Damascus. God sent Ananias to talk to him and to pray for his eyes to see again. Paul said that he could see immediately after he prayed.
Ananias told Paul —-that God had chosen Paul to go everywhere telling people what Paul had seen and heard.
Then Ananias told Paul that he should be baptized in water.
(This was a sign that Paul had changed into be a believer in Christ.)
Then Paul said that he returned to Jerusalem to speak to the disciples and church of believers and leaders.
Paul said one day he went into the temple to pray.
4567. Verse 17 He said that while he (Paul) was praying he went into a t_______________. (This is like being in a dream, or seeing a vision.)

4571. Verse 21 The Lord told Paul that he will send him far away unto what people? _____________________
(Remember, Paul has been a Jew who followed all the Jewish laws and rules very carefully. Now, God is sending him to people who the Jewish looked down on. The Jews did not like the Gentile people. Now Paul will be living among them and preaching to them.)
4572. Verse 22 The crowd listened to what happened to Paul.
But when Paul said that God sent him to preach to the Gentiles,
these Jewish men from Asia—-began to shout at Paul.

( Paul received citizenship only because he was born into a family that had Roman citizenship, and his family received it because they lived in the province Cilicia.
Pompey (a Roman) won Cilicia for the Romans in 67 BC.
He named Tarsus the provincial capital.
Later, Mark Antony made Tarsus a “free city” and exempted it from Roman taxation.
Paul was from Tarsus.)
4579. Verse 29. Did the soldiers keep on asking questions of Paul?

They were afraid, because they had put chains on Paul and had commanded him to be whipped. (They did not whip him, but they almost did.)
A person who was a Roman citizen had a right to have a trial before punishment was given.
Most Jewish people were not Roman citizens. The soldiers thought because Paul was Jewish, he was not a Roman citizen —-and they could do what they wanted to him.
Then they were surprised to learn that Paul was a Roman citizen and he could now report them and they would be in trouble.
4580. Verse 30 The next day Paul was taken out of the jail, and was taken before the ___________________________________ for them to hear what happened and decide what to do.
