4030. Peter stood to talk to the disciples. Other believers were there, too. About how many? _________________________

4031. Peter said, That in the Old Testament, King David wrote a prophecy about what would happen in the future about the Messiah-Jesus.

Read Psalms 41:9 Read John 13:18 In John, Jesus is quoting the verse from Psalms. Peter remembers Jesus saying this verse at the last supper. Now Peter understands who that person was.

Who was the disciple who “ate bread with Jesus and then lifted up his hand against Jesus”? ____________________________

4032. Verse 18 Read Matthew 27: 5-8 When Judas felt guilty about what he had done—what did he do? __________________

The Jewish leaders took back the money.

Judas went out and did what to himself? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Jewish leaders took that money and bought a field —-where they buried poor people who had no money for a proper burial.

That is where Judas was buried.

4033. Vs. 21-26 Judas was dead. So that left 11 disciples. Peter talked to them and said that they should choose a man to be in Judas’ place. They talked about it. They chose two men. They prayed about it. And which man was chosen? ________________________________ Verse 26

Chapter 2

4034. The disciples and other believers were meeting in the upper room, praying. They had been doing this for many days.

Jesus told them to stay in Jerusalem and wait for the “power” of God to come on them.

On the Day of Pentecost, a Jewish feast day, a holy day, —- they were all together praying, when things began to happen:

1. There was a sound from ____________________ like a

rushing mighty __________________.

2. Up on their heads were little flames (tongues) of ________________.

3. The Holy Spirit came upon all of them and they began to talk in other t_________________ (languages ).

(Languages that they did not know. The Holy Spirit caused them to speak in a different language, each person was speaking in a different language from another person.)

4035. Outside the room, (it seems the windows were open) many people were standing outside. They heard all these languages being spoken.

The people outside were from many places. They were in Jerusalem for the Holy Day. Because they were from other places they spoke other languages.

As they stood outside of the room, they heard these Jewish people talking in languages that they could understand. They knew that those Jewish people did not know those languages. How could they be speaking in them?

They were all surprised. At first they thought the believers must be ______________________. Vs. 13

4036. Peter stood up and said—they are not drunk, but they are doing something that the Old Testament prophet, Joel, said would happen. Joel 2:28
