St. John 20 Verse 19-31
3993. Verse 19 The first day of the week—in the evening—-the same day they learned that Jesus had risen from the dead—-the disciples were together in room with the doors locked. What were they afraid of? _____________________

3997. Vs. 23 This verse has been talked about a lot by Bible teachers. They have different ideas about what Jesus meant.
Some churches believe that a priest can “forgive” sins or declare sins forgiven.
Others say that only God can forgive sins. That these words of Jesus were for the disciples as leaders—-whom now —Jesus had given them the Holy Spirit — so they can make judgments and decision about people. The disciples would now be making decisions about setting up churches and leaders.
My personal thoughts about this—-that this is one of those verses that are not clear to us. All through the Bible, we know that only God/Jesus can forgive sins.
So, I would leave this verse stand—-and just say—I am not sure what it means—and go on.
