(The Jews were looking for a Messiah to be a King over them here on earth, and to get back their land from the Romans.

They can not believe that the man who is their Messiah is going to die—and die on a cross like a person who is a criminal.)

In Vs. 35,36 Jesus calls himself the “light” and tells them that he will be with them only a little while longer.
