Chapter 7    Vs. 31-50

Verse 31 -35 Jesus said, The people of this– day in time, are like children playing. They play happy songs, then when others do not dance, they play sad songs, but then the others are not sad.

The Jewish leaders saw that John the Baptist did not eat fancy food or drink wine, they said that he had a devil.

I, Jesus, come, and I eat with others at their homes and enjoy their company, and you say that I eat too much and drink too much and that I eat with sinners.

You criticize no matter what a person does.

Vs. 36 One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to come to his house for a meal.

While they were eating a woman who was known as a sinner, came to Jesus. She carried an expensive box of perfume.

She began to cry and her tears fell on Jesus feet. She dried his feet with her hair. She poured the expensive perfume on his feet.

The Pharisee he said to himself, If Jesus was a real prophet, he would know that this woman is a bad sinner, and he would not let her touch him.

Jesus knew his thoughts. He said to the Pharisee, A man loaned two men money. To one man he loaned $500 pence, to another man he loaned $50 pence.

He forgave both of them the debt —-and they did not have to pay him back.

Which of these two men would love him more?

The Pharisee said, The man who owed him the most money.

Jesus said, Yes.

When I entered into your home, you did not offer me the usual water to wash the dust from my feet.

But this woman, has washed my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair.

You gave me no kiss on the cheek as is custom, but she has kissed my feet.

You did not offer oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet.

She has many sins, I have forgiven her. She loves me for forgiving her many sins.

A person who is forgiven little, loves little, a person who is forgiven much, loves much.

Jesus said to the woman, Your sins are forgiven.

Vs. 49 The men sitting there at the dinner began to say among themselves, Who is this man that says he forgives sin?

Vs. 50 Jesus said to the woman, Thy faith has saved you, go in peace.
