St. John 9 Vs. 1-41
3713. As Jesus passed by, he saw a man who had been ________________ from birth.
3714. The disciples asked Jesus, Who ___________________.
Was it this man, or his parents?
(The disciples believed that it was because of someone’s sin that caused this man to be blind.
Many people today believe the same. They believe that if sickness or bad things happen to you—-it must be that you did something bad and that is why you have trouble.
In verse 3 Jesus told them that the man’s blindness was not because of any sin the man did —-or his parents.
Jesus said the man’s blindness gave an opportunity for God to show his power.
Our sickness —- or other troubles—- is not always because we did something wrong.
Sometimes it is. We can do things that make us sick. We can do things that cause trouble to come.
But most of the time —- our sickness —- or our troubles—- are because we live in a world that is full of sinful people. All of this has an effect and influence on us.
We live in a sinful world. We live in a world with many sicknesses. We live in a world where people do bad things that effect our life.
As Christians, God promises to be with us always. He does not promise to keep us from all sickness and trouble. He does promise to be with us and help us through all things in this life.)

Vs 39-41 Jesus said to the people around him—some of them were Pharisees. Jesus said, I came into this world to help those who were blind—to see.
Those who refuse to see—-will remain blind.
Jesus was not talking about our physical eyes. Jesus was talking about the spirit.
Being blind to what God was doing. Being blind to understand that Jesus was the promised Savior that was spoken of in the Old Testament.
The Pharisees standing there—-said to Jesus— are we blind?
Jesus answered them, You say you are not blind, you say you can see.
But—you do not see—-so you remain blind.
In other words, the Pharisees—thought they understood all things about the scripture and were spiritually enlightened.
But Jesus told them, you do not understand what the prophets said about me—and that I am the promised One that God was to send.
So you are blind to the truth and you refuse to believe.
