Then they asked Jesus what he thought should be done.

They were testing Jesus to see what he would say.

They wanted to find fault with Jesus, so they could accuse him of not following the law of Moses.

Don’t you find it strange that the Jewish leaders only brought the woman to be stoned —-why didn’t they bring the man?

Wasn’t he just as guilty?

3674. Vs. 12 Jesus said, I am the ____________________ of the _____________________. He that follows Me, will not walk in __________________________ but he will have the ____________________of _____________________.

3675. The Jewish leaders told him that he spoke these things by himself, but he had no witness—-no other men were saying these things were true.

In the Old Testament—a person had to have 2 or 3 people as witnesses to proof that something was true.

3676. Vs.18 Jesus said that the ___________________ was the witness that what he said was true. And Jesus was saying that the things he said about himself was true.

3677. Vs.19 Then the Jewish leaders asked Jesus—-where is your father?

Jesus said, You do not _____________ me, or my Father.

If you had known me (or known who Jesus was) then you would have known my Father.

Vs. 20 The Jewish leaders heard these words, they did not question Jesus about it, because —in God’s plan—-the time was not yet for them to take Jesus and kill him.

The Jewish leaders thought Joseph was Jesus’ father. They did not like it that Jesus was saying that God in heaven was his Father.

But at this time, they did not argue with Jesus.
