(The reason he did this–was because of the things these men were doing. The Bible does not explain, but books of Jewish history tell us that these men selling things—–were not always honest.
They would charge more than what the price should be.
Some people brought their own animal with them. Those animals were checked by the priests to make sure they did not have any cuts, or were not crippled, etc—they had to be perfect.
If they were not perfect—then the person had to buy another animal.
Sometimes the priests who examined the animal (looked it over)—would find something wrong with it. It was not true, but a person could not argue with the priest. So the animal was taken away, and the person had to buy another one.
Later the priest would take the animal that he took away from them—and later — he would put it with others to sell.
So they were “stealing” animals, making people buy more, then selling their first animal to someone else.
Some of the money changers were not honest and cheated the people.
Jesus saw all these things going on.
It may not have been —the selling of animals or changing of money at the temple that was so wrong. It could have been.
But the all the cheating was wrong.)
