( The “washing” that the leaders were talking about was not simply washing the hands to make them clean from dirt or germs. It was certain way of washing the wash like a ceremony kind of thing. It was a “rule” the Jewish leaders had thought up. The Jewish leaders made a big thing out of this special washing before they ate. It was something that made them feel more “holy” than other people.
Jesus did not feel any need to do this special kind of washing.
Since Jesus was a leader and teacher the Jewish leaders expected that he would do it.)

2455. Vs 24-30 Jesus tried to get away quietly for awhile, but the people followed him. A woman fell at his feet and wanted help for her daughter. What was wrong with her daughter? ____________________________________________________________
2456. At first Jesus “tested” her by saying that the “bread” or the good things belonged to the “children” first. Meaning, that the Jewish people God’s children were to have the good “bread” things, first, and it would not be right to give it to the “dogs” rather than to the children.
The Jews thought of the Gentiles as “unclean” people. They were people who worshipped idols and ate meat the Jews were not allowed to eat. They were “unclean” people. The Jews often called the Gentiles “dogs”.
Jesus did not feel that way about them, but here he is using this term “dogs” with this woman who is not a Jew. She is a Gentile, asking for Jesus to do her a favor of healing her daughter. Jesus is “testing” her by saying these things to her.
Her need is so great, she does not care if she is called a bad name of “dog”. She wants help for her daughter. So she said to Jesus, “Even the dogs get the _______________ of bread from the table.”
Jesus was pleased with her faith. What did Jesus tell her? ________________________
