2169. Vs.1-3 What questions do the Jewish leaders ask Jesus? ____________________
_______________________________________________________________________
2170. Jesus said that in the beginning or from the beginning God made them
_________________ and ________________________ and the two of them were to join together as _______________ flesh. They were to leave _____________________
And ______________________________.
2171. What God has joined together do not let man put the ______________________.
2172. The Jewish leaders asked why Moses gave them a paper of divorce. Jesus said it was because of the ____________________________ of their _____________________.
(In other words, because they would not stay with each other because sin had made their hearts hard to obey God’s commands and do what they should be doing showing love and respect and kindness to each other. They did not and would not do this and so they would not stay with the other person.)
Jesus said in the beginning this was not the way things were.
2173. Vs. 9 Jesus said that only because of ________________________ should one mate divorce the other.
(For years Christian men and women have wondered if God would allow divorce for other reasons. I have no Bible verses to back this up—This is my personal opinion: Abuse–beating on another person, Drug addiction, maybe drunkeness. Would be other reasons for divorce.
It would be best to have the advice of a godly pastor, or some other Christian person you trust.
Trying to work out problems is the best way. Our modern world is very quick to go for divorce for any little thing. Commitment and working on it many are not willing to do.)
2174. His disciples said If that is the way it is then it would be better not to
___________________________.
2175. Jesus said that not everyone can stay single. Some people are born with no
_____________________ to marry. Some men have been made _________________.
The word eunuch which means a man who has had his testicles cut.
In the days of kings as rulers—–men who were to watch over the king’s wives and women were made eunuchs so that they would not be having sexual relations with the women.
Then Jesus said some men will not marry so that they can give more time to ___________ work.
Jesus said If a man can stay single it is good, but if he can not let him marry.
2176. Vs. 13 -15 Who was brought to Jesus? _______________________ Who tried to send them away? _______________________ They thought Jesus would be too busy to want to bother. But what did Jesus say about them __________________________
_____________________________________________________________________
2177. Vs. 16 A man came to Jesus and called him “good”. Jesus said There is only one who is good and that is _________________.
Jesus told him that if he wanted to enter into life have eternal life he should do what?
________________________________________________________________________
2178. The man asked Jesus Which commandments should he do?
Vs. 18,19 Jesus names many of the commandments. Vs. 20 The man said that he had done __________________ of them.
2179. Vs. 21 What did Jesus tell the man to do? _______________________________
______________________________________________________________________
2180. How did the man feel hearing this? ______________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
2181. Jesus told the disciples that it was hard for a __________________________ to enter into heaven.
Vs. 24 Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the “eye of a needle” than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. The “eye of a needle” was a name given for a small doorway beside the big gates of a city wall. When the city wall gates were shut in the evenings to keep out dangerous people especially armies the only way into the city was through a small narrow low door. A camel is tall going through a low door would be very hard and maybe not possible for a camel.
Rich people often trust in their money. They often do not think they need God. Many like the man who talked with Jesus do not want to give up their money.
Vs. 25 The disciples were surprised because in the Jewish teaching people who were rich were considered to be blessed by God. It was believed that God favored them that is why they had so much. If they were poor it meant that God did not favor them so much or they were doing wrong things.
That was the Old Testament way of thinking. After Jesus came salvation, came by faith And pleasing God was by having faith and obeying.
We understand that God’s blessings are not just having money and riches. God’s blessings in our can be good health, having enough for our needs, being safe, have peace and joy.
As Christians in a world that often does not like Christians we will have problems and suffer. Because we live in a world of sin we suffer problems and sickness like other people.
Riches do not prove that God favors you more.
Vs. 26 Jesus said that with man’s thinking it is not possible but with God’s thinking it is possible.
Man’s thinking was that if you were rich——God liked you and gave you riches.
God’s thinking is that riches in this life are not that important what is important is your relationship with God. If you have God you will have what you need.
2182. Vs. 27 The disciples said, We have left ________________ to follow you.
2183, Vs. 28 Jesus said when he sits his kingdom someday the disciples will sit on __________________________________ and they will judge the 12 _______________ of Israel.
2184. Jesus said that everyone who has given up family, or things of this life for him will receive ____________________________ and will receive ___________________________ life.
2184. Jesus said That many who are thought to be important or ______________ here on earth will be ________________ in heaven.
And many who are ______________________ or not important here on earth, will be ____________________ in heaven.
Being “important” with God is not about being rich or famous or well liked etc.
But it is being full of faith staying true obeying no matter what you do for a living here on earth.
