Bible Questions # 2039-2052

Matthew 12 Vs. 22-50

2039. Vs.22 What was wrong with the boy? ______________________________

__________________________________________________________

2040. People can be deaf because something happened to their ears or the nerves. But this boy was deaf because why? ______________________________________________

2041. “Dumb” is an old fashioned word used for someone who can not _____________________. (Now days we use that word to mean someone who is not very smart.)

2042. Vs. 24 The church leaders, Pharisees, said that Jesus was able to cast out the demons because why? ____________________________________________________

2043. Vs.26 Jesus said if Satan helps me cast demons out of people—–he is working against himself. Why would Satan do that? Vs. 28 Jesus said So I must be casting out demons by the Spirit of God. If that is true—–then the Kingdom of God has come to

you. Did the Pharisees believe that Jesus was of the Kingdom of God? _____________

2044. Vs. 27 Jesus said your own people ——some of the Jewish leaders and teachers —–cast out demons by prayer—–by what power do they cast out demons? Did the Pharisees answer? _____________________________________

2045. Vs. 29 Jesus said you can not go into the house of a strong man. You must first bind or tie up the man before you can go into his house and take his things. In the same way, Jesus was stronger than Satan—–that is why, the demons had to obey Jesus.

Vs. 30 Jesus said if someone is not working _____________ me, then he is working

__________________________ me.

2046. Vs. 31 All kinds of sin, shall be forgiven. Even the sin of saying bad things against Jesus. But people who say bad, evil things about the Holy Spirit will Not

Be ___________________________________.

2047. Vs. 33 We know what kind of tree it is by the ______________________ that grows on the tree. So we can see how people do things and behave as to what kind of person they are.

2048. Vs. 34 If a man’s ______________________ is good, then good things will come out of his mouth. If a man’s heart is evil, then ____________________ things will come out of his mouth.

2049. Vs.36 Jesus said, Every _______________ word you say, you will have to answer for some day before God. “idle” means empty, not useful. This verse is a little bit hard to understand. We talk much all day to people. Much of what we say is not very important or has great value. We tell jokes, we tease, we talk about the weather, etc. —-none of that is very important talk.

In the verses before and after this verse, Jesus is talking about using very bad, mean, unbelieving words against God and the Holy Spirit.

So perhaps, this verse is about something the same. Swear words, using God’s name lightly—like saying, “O Lord” “O God” and it is not a prayer, it is not calling on Jesus name—-it is just like saying “My goodness!” or “Oh,my!”

We are not to use God’s name as an ordinary word. One of the 10 Commandments says to Keep his name holy, and not to use his name in vain (empty).

Idle words to me would mean using God’s name in an empty way. Or talking about hell like a common word—like “Oh, hell!” or “I am as mad as hell!” Hell is serious. It should not be an empty word.

2050. Vs. 38 The Pharisees want Jesus to do what? _______________________________________________________________________

Why would they ask that? They have heard from others what Jesus did. They could have seem Jesus any day with the people and seen what he did. They are just trying to test Jesus and give him a hard time.

2051. Vs. 39, 40 Jesus said that he would not give him a special sign. They could have seen what he did anytime if they wanted to. Jesus said he would give them the sign of Jonah. Jonah was in the belly of the fish for 3 days and nights. What does that speak of in Jesus’ life? How long was Jesus in the grave? _______________________________________________________________________

2051. Vs. 42 Jesus is talking about when the Queen of Sheba came to see King

Solomon. Vs. 43, 44.45 Jesus explains about demons. When they are cast out of a person—–they go looking for another person to enter. If they can not find another person, they go back to the person they came out of. If he can get back in that person, the demon may bring in other demons with him.

The point here is when a person has a demon cast out they need to be careful not to sin. When we sin we open ourselves up to the devil. They need God’s spirit in them so they can be strong and the demons can not get back in.

2052 Vs. 46 While Jesus is talking who comes to see him? _____________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

Some church groups do not want to believe that Jesus had brothers and sisters. There are other verses in other books of the Bible that talk about his brothers and sisters.

Vs. 47 Jesus says that his brothers and sisters are those who believe in him and follow him—–and do the will of God. This is true. People who follow Jesus are his family.

In a spiritual way.

But Jesus had real brothers and sisters, too. Mary had more children than just Jesus.
