2018. Look at vs. 6 Jesus said ,“Blessed are those who are not offended in me.” Offend means to feel —-hurt, angry, insulted. The church leaders of the Jews were often angry with the things Jesus said and did. What do you think these words of Jesus mean?

Do we have people today who do not like to hear that they are “sinners”? ____________

Do we have people today who do not like what Jesus said about sexual sins? _________

Are these people “offended” in what Jesus says? _________________

2019. Vs. 10 The reason John came into the world was to prepare the way for the people to be ready for Jesus and his ministry. Vs. 11 Jesus said that no prophet was greater than John the Baptist, And yet, the least important person who receives Jesus and is part of the Jesus’ kingdom is greater than John the Baptist.

Jesus tells that in the Old Testament many of the prophets were killed and were not respected by the Jewish people because they did not like what the prophets said. Read the Chp.14 Why was John the Baptist in prison? _______________________________________________

2020. Vs. 16-19 John did not eat fancy food or drink wine the people called him a ____________________________. Jesus came, he ate with people at dinners often,

he drank wine with them, and they said he was a _______________________________

_______________________________________________________________________.

The people were not happy either way. They complained about both ways.

If you try to please people you will have a problem because they complain about something.

2021. Vs. 20-25 Jesus is telling about the cities where he preached and did miracles.

Yet those people did not believe in and accept Jesus. Jesus told the crowd of people ——that if Jesus had done these same miracles in Tyre, Sidon or Sodom ——those cities would have done what? __________________________________________________________

2022. Vs. 25 Jesus said that the things he told about God and heaven were not understood by the educated and “wise” people, but the ________________________ were the people who accepted and believed in Jesus.

Often educated and smart people will not believe in Jesus or God. They do not want to hear they are sinners, or what they need to do about it. “Babes” or common or ordinary people are willing to admit they are sinners. They will believe and accept Jesus and God.

2023. Vs.27 Only the Son, Jesus, knows the Father. No man can know the Father but only if the Son, Jesus shows Him or “reveals” Him to the man. In other words, the only way we can know God the Father is to go through Jesus.

Vs. 28 Jesus said, Any one who feels they are tired from working and are carrying a heavy burden they should come to __________________________ and the will find

_____________________________

2024. Vs. 29 Jesus said that his ___________________ is easy and his ___________________________ is light. This means that when we follow Jesus’ ways of living and obey his teachings life will be easy for us, that “burdens” and troubles that we may have will be light.

A yoke is a wooden hoop that an ox puts his head through so he can pull a wagon.

This does not mean that we will not have sorrow or troubles. But it means that with Jesus by our side he will help us carry our “burden”. His strength will make it be easier and lighter.

When we go against God’s laws sin is hard on us. Sin makes heavy burdens and the “yoke” of sin is hard to bear.

People who get involved with things that make them addicted know that “yoke” is hard to bear.
