Book #8—-Acts Made Easy chp. 3

The Acts of the Apostles

Acts Chapter 3

Vs. 1 Peter and John went to the Jewish temple to pray. Note: the believers in Jesus and followers of Jesus still go to the Jewish temple as they did before. Not until some time later do they begin to meet together in separate places away from the temple.

As they get near the temple they see a crippled man there. He has been crippled from birth. The man is asking for money. Peter and John told him that they do not have money to give him but they will do something for him. They speak in the name of Jesus and tell him to stand up and walk.

The man was healed completely. He jumped and walked. Everyone was amazed. For they all had seen him crippled for years.

Vs. 12 Peter told the people do not be so amazed. Do not look at us like

have the power to do this. But rather, it is God’s power in the name of Jesus.

Vs. 16 It is Jesus’ name and faith in his name that did this.

Vs. 17-21

Peter begins to preach to them. He tells them they need to repent and change so they their sins can be taken away.

Vs. 22 Peter quotes Deut. 18: 18, 19 Moses tells that some day God will send a “prophet” that if they will not hear what he says to them they will be destroyed.

Peter says the “prophet” was Jesus. If they received Jesus’ words they will be saved, but if they will not hear his words they will not be saved.

Vs. 24-26 Peter tells them that all of the prophets in the Old Testament spoke of the “prophet” to come and that prophet was Jesus. That they are sons of Abraham, and God had promised Abraham that he would bless all of the nations because of Abraham.

And because of Jesus the Jew the son of Abraham all the nations will be blessed because Jesus brought salvation to all people.

True Christians have always respected and given honor to the Jews as a group chosen by God. Because through the Jewish nation we have God’s word and Jesus came to save the world.
