II Kings 2:19-22
764. Elisha is at Jericho. The water there is bad. (It has made some people die, and some women to lose the baby they were carrying.) What does Elisha do to the water?

765. The waters are “healed”. Do you think it was just the salt that did it? ________

II Kings 2:23-25
This story is hard for us to understand. In our country and way of doing things we find this hard to understand. But long, long ago, in a different way of thinking—-most people had great respect for “teachers” and “holy men”. But these people did not.
When Elisha went to Bethel children came out to make fun of him. (We do not know how old these children were. Some Bible versions say “boys”.) They mocked him. They had heard that Elijah had been taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire.
It seems they did not really believe it. They must have thought it was a big story the holy men made up. So they were mocking Elisha. They were telling him to “go up”.
They called him a “bald head”. They did not show any respect and they were making fun of what had happened to Elijah.

I would think that the people would not make fun and mock Elisha after that.
II Kings Chp. 3
This tells of the king of Israel, Jehoram, asking the King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, to come help him fight against Moab.
767. As they went to Moab to fight they traveled for 7 days (vs.9) —but there was no

The King of Judah wanted to ask help from a prophet. So they asked _____________________________.
768. Elisha would not have helped the King of Israel because he was an evil and bad king. But because of the King of Judah, he said he would help.
Vs. 15 They played music for Elisha—–while he prayed and asked God to show him the answer. Finally, God told him (vs. 17) that God would fill the valley with water.
Vs. 22 All the fighting men of Moab were waiting for the enemy army to come.

Vs. 26-27 These verses show how the people around Israel believed. They worshipped idols. They killed people—even their own children—to give to the idol—-human sacrifice—–like the Maya of Mexico. This is one of the reasons God was against these nations.
