(In those days to tear a person’s clothing was a sign of sorrow and great upset. Clothes were made by hand and took a lot of work. People had to make their own thread from wool, flax or cotton. After they made the thread, they had to weave it into cloth. Then they had to sew the robe. It was a lot of work. People had only a few clothes. They took care of them. To tear them was a sign of great upset.)

334. Joshua was Moses’ helper. He would be the next leader of the people.

Caleb was one of the 12 who went into the land to look around. He was the only one who wanted to trust God and go into the land ----trusting God to help them.

This is a lesson for us. If God wants us to do something and promises to be with us to help us-------we can be successful over "giants".

But if we disobey, and we go in our own strength------God is not with us------we will lose and be defeated.
