Chapter 16

Verses 1 - 16

Paul is thanking people who have helped him or have helped other believers. He wants to greet (say hello) to them.

Verses 17 - 20

Paul says to watch out for people who say things that divides people----what they say puts one group of people against another group. They say things that are not true. They say things that make people lose faith. They teaching things that are false--not true and right--they make people confused.

Paul says to stay away from people like that.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

Paul may have felt that the time of the end of the world was near. I do not think that the disciples had any idea how much time would pass before Jesus came back to earth again. I think they expected Him to come back to earth in just a short time. Maybe they would see it.

When Jesus does come to earth the second time, Satan will be put into hell for 1,000 years. Then he will be let out again for a short time, then he will be thrown into the lake of fire forever.

May God's grace be will you.

Verses 21 - 24

Paul talks about the workers who have been with him and helped him.

Verses 25 - 27

God is able to make you strong. The "good news" --the gospel---is the plan God has for you the Gentiles (non-Jews) . This has been God's plan from the beginning of time. The prophets told about this----and this plan is to be told everywhere so Gentiles everywhere and hear and believe and obey Christ.

To God who is the only wise one----give Him glory forever----through Jesus Christ.
