Remember, God said that he would make the people of the land afraid. But it has been 40 years that the Hebrew people have come from Egypt. The people are still afraid.

Imagine how they had felt 40 years ago, if the Hebrews had obeyed God and gone in to take the land back then!

There is a spiritual lesson here. The red cord (rope) is a symbol or sign of Jesus’ blood of the future. All the family and friends that Rahab brought into the house would be saved. The red rope was like the "red blood covering". Jesus’ blood covers our sin and we are free from spiritual death.

This red rope gave them safety from death. They had to stay in the house----under the red covering to be safe-----just like those who are under the blood of Jesus are safe.

If they went out from under the red covering, they would die.

We need to stay "under the blood" of Jesus to be safe. If we leave and go our own way----we are out from under God’s promise of safety. Our spirits are only safe as we stay "in the house under the blood".

403. Joshua 2: 23,24 The men felt sure that they would succeed in taking over Jericho. Why? ________________________________________________________________
